Jessica Simpson only made it about halfway through a tribute to Dolly Parton when she blurted out "So Nervous" and abruptly left the stage at the Kennedy Center. THe audience was stunned and confused and after a few moments, the show continued with the next performer. No explanation was made, but Simpson was in tears when she joined the rest of the cast on stage at the end of the show.
Weird, huh? Wonder what her problem is.

I saw a clip of it on the news. It looked like Jessica forgot the lyrics and couldn't recover. Then she said, "Dolly Parton makes me so nervous!" and ran off. Dolly looked like she handled the situation very graciously, though I would be a bit miffed that of all the performers in the world, Jessica Simpson was chosen to perform one of my numbers. What were they thinking? Couldn't they have hired a singer?

The broadcast of the event is in January, so they have a few weeks to figure out how to edit the whole incident out.

I believe the event is being televised on December 26. according to today's Washington Post Simpson's number was re-filmed after everyone had left the concert hall. The second attempt is the number television audiences will see.
When this item showed up on the news, Jessica had her arm across her chest, and I thought for sure that she had a wardrobe malfunction.
Turns out she was just a crappy singer.

Yes, she apparently re-shot the number after everyone left. Too bad Ashley didn't perform, she could have done a hoe-down like she did on SNL.
And yes, why in the world get Jessica Simpson to perform 9-5?

Ha ha! Paging Rath for the inevitable "give her a break, she never had no schoolin', she's just a kid" defense.
They shoulda had Courtney Love do one of Dolly's songs. She'd have made it through, by hook or by crook, and it would've been a show.
I would have thought Kristian Chenowith....

True (Courtney Love). At least it would be an interesting number. I regret that they won't be showing the original version. At least that would have been watch-worthy in the same way that an accident causes rubbernecking on the road.

Guess what I just read elsewhere? Jessica had a teleprompter. How dumb do you have to be, approximately?
I know, I know, she's just a kid. She can't be expected to amount to anything! Her father pushes her!
Reba McIntyre was there, why not have her sing the song? Not sure if the producer decided to retape that particular segment, or if "Daddy" Simpson stepped in. They just should have edited her out of the entire production.

She should never have been invited. But maybe W created the performers list.
"Let's get that big chested girl from that, eh, Dukes of Hazzard movie. Heh heh, ever'body loved that one movie. Course I know 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin' was a Nancy Sinatra song. COURSE I know that."
Oh god. I can't imagine how badly Jessica would oversing a simple song like 9-5.
Here's the story with a little clip.
Also, get a look at Aretha Franklin... That dress is the worst!

All the while making faces like a baby platypus who forget to take some Beano before eating a chimichanga.
"overcome with emotion..." oh so that's what they call botched performances now.

Maybe she could take a master class with Betty Buckley. Somebody has to stop these Simpson girls. Their public humiliations are getting uncomfortable to watch, they're like masochists at this point begging people to witness their debasement.
But Daddy's making bank........
Just seeing the words "Jessica Simpson" and "Kennedy Center" in the same sentence should have been enough to stop this from ever being a remote possibility........
And seriously, how do you screw up "9 to 5" with a telepromter?
And since when is Jessica Simpson a country performer????
does that make daddy a debaser? ha ha ha ho.
I think that honestly an idiot thought Jessica Simpson was the most comparable performer to Dolly in today's world. People tend to forget Dolly is a singer, songwriter, musician AND all-around talent, much more than a pretty blond whose daddy is pimping his girls out.

Dunno. But his daughters' product is subacultcha.
and if jennifer's two then ashlee is none. ashlee is none.
I don't know, she's had some incredible plastic surgery and we all know that's one of the best ways to stay in the news and be a relevant pop culture topic.
My facelift is scheduled for 3pm.
When are people going to get wise to the fact that these little oops moments the youngsters are coughing up (Britney's crotch, etc.) are publicity stunts for the pathetic?
Or are we the pathetic ones for falling for it time and again?
