No disrespect to Dolly Parton but there should be more derving honorees such as Peter O Toole & Jerry Herman

Simpson's Meltdown Caused by Faulty Dress
Pop star Jessica Simpson's poor performance at the Kennedy Center Honors event on Sunday night was due to her faulty dress.
Simpson performed the song "Nine to Five" during a tribute to Dolly Parton and was seen awkwardly clutching her strapless gown with one arm while holding a microphone with the other.
According to Star magazine, the singer was desperately trying to keep her gown up until the end of the song and became distracted while heavily relying on cue cards to read the lyrics.
Simpson became visibly distraught after flubbing the song and abruptly exited the stage after saying, "Dolly, you make me so nervous!"
The botched performance will not air during the televised special on December 26, as Simpson requested to re-tape the segment after the show.
You are quoting Star Magazine? They even got the fact about the teleprompters wrong by calling them cue cards.
I hear Jessica has blamed it on alcohol and is going into rehab.

Actually I am quoting the San Francisco Chronicle. Same news wire I assume - but now we know where you are reading from.
Yes, I was reading from your post...
"According to Star magazine..."
I told my mom this and while I am into the story and say Jessica Simpson was singing 9 to 5 my mom says "How did she get to sing a song like 9 to 5?"
Y'know, this sort of behavior from Jessica doesn't suprise me. At all.
I mean, we're talking about a woman who couldn't decide if "Chicken of the Sea" was tuna or chicken.
Not the shiniest ornament on the Christmas tree.

She had just found out about 'Prison Break' star Lane Garrison's tragic auto accident. Apparently Lane was like a brother to her - they grew up in the same town and when he had problems at home, he went to live with Jessica's dad Joe Simpson when he was a teenager. Simpson helped make Lane a star like he did his daughters.
I think that was the real reason...
"All the while making faces like a baby platypus who forget to take some Beano before eating a chimichanga."
Namo, I have to use that as my sig...that is a perfect description of what Jessica looks like when she sings.

Jessica has now pulled out of the Kennedy Center Honors completely. She wasn't satisfied with her second take, so she has asked to be edited out of the show all together.

It's a shame, though, that Dolly's (arguably) most famous song won't be heard on a show that's honoring her.
I agree Kringas. It's also a shame that they would ask her to be the one to sing the song. I think Dolly Parton deserved better than Jessica Simpson. It reminds me of when Beyonce paid tribute to Tina Turner. Beyonce is a good performer but I didn't think she had the "weight" a performer needs to really pay homage to Ms. Turner and her "Proud Mary."
Next time the powers that be should think twice about who they invite to perform.
So when will this footage end up on line? Anyone seen it yet? I can't wait!
They should have picked a more seasoned performer and a better song.
