Rest In Peace Johnny

re: Johnny Carson Died

He was hilarious. When I was a kid, it was a huge treat to be able to stay up and watch the Tonight Show. And who will ever forget the segment with Ed Ames demonstrating hand axe throwing skills...

re: Johnny Carson Died

I am beyond sad. I grew up staying up late watching Johnny Carson. Later on I had the great fortune of meeting him during the last week of his run on the Tonight Show. Favorte moments are many, but I always loved when his monolugues would bomb, and he made that funny, Carnak, Aunt Blabby, The Matinee movie guy, and that incredible moment with Bette Midler.

Heaven's just that much more fun, now that he is there.

"HiYooo" to you Mr. Carson.

-Wow-

Ever hear of letterman or leno or o'brien - well carson did it best....and letterman got his start on carson...

When carson left the talk show biz, leno took over...

Just as posters who don't care to froth at the mouth for Wicked, Bklyn, etcetc. can CHOOSE NOT to post on those threads, you (who admittedly knows nothing about one of the greatest entertainment icons of our time) could have CHOSEN not to bother posting here.

Catie -

That's one of the saddest posts I've ever read.
Johnny Carson is the man who could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt just how bad Jay Leno really is. Leno admired him greatly and wanted more than anything to be his replacement. Sadly he never came close to the grace, warmth, humor and plain old showmanship that Johnny possessed.

I always hoped that one day he'd come back. Here come the tears.

- but Leno right now is the best of the late night hosts...(I don't really like letterman)...

But it's true...well, we always have that one episode of Cheers...

re: Johnny Carson Died

yeah..I asked my mom about him a few minutes ago and she got really sad...and SORRY if I offended anyone, but I figured that learning who he was from people who genuinly liked him/watched him would be more effective than getting a few inhuman stats from Google....
And I learned today, that he must have truly been a great person,as he touched so many people's lives.

re: Johnny Carson Died

indeed he is...

What is this world coming to when people can name everyone in Wicked's ensemble but don't know who Johnny Carson was, is, and will always be...?
