I've seen this trailer a lot lately and I'm really excited for it. Mainly because one of my favorite actresses Glenne Headly is in it, but also you's gets t'hear Scar-Jo use her "Marble Columns" voice again.

They have been playing the Don Jon trailer in front of every movie lately (along with About Time and Captain Phillips).

I think it looks interesting, but it is completely devoid of any plot.

The best looking trailer, that I saw for the first time in front of Short Term 12 this weekend, was for Passion with Rachel McAdams. It looks like a marvelous campfest!

Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

It doesn't appear to be devoid of any plot to me from that trailer. It looks like a contemp. working/lower middle class comic love story with a mild conflict: guy who likes his family, church, friends and porn, perhaps way too much on the porn, meets girl who loves legit movies, a kind of low brow meets aspirational brow romance.

The only thing I don't like about the trailer is Gordon-Levitt appearing as himself and coming off very off-brand as some self-promoting wunderkind. One of the things we love about Gordon-Levitt is that he seems like a humble and complete professional, a "regular Joe" who doesn't have to announce he's a "regular Joe" or ever comment on himself.

Other than that, it looks adorable and like it just might be a big hit.

To be fair, the actual trailer doesn't have JGL talking to the audience. I think that's his own personal Youtube channel though, so he was probably just doing it just for that.

henrik--I felt exactly the same way watching it. About the trailer and his self-serving intro/outro.

didn't realize that, Jordan, good to know and it does make a difference that he didn't go there for the exhibited trailer.

What part of NJ are they supposed to be in? I just saw a clip on Kelly & Michael and I was totally turned off by Scar-Jo's "Jersey" accent. People are already saying on IMDB that it makes them think everyone in NJ is a retard. Can we have a movie where someone from NJ doesn't talk like they're in the mob?

I saw Don Jon at TIFF. I won't say anything about the movie other than JG-L comes across as very cute/hot, and watch out for Julianne Moore. I didn't recall seeing her in the trailer, but she's definitely an important part of the movie. And does Glenne Headly play the mother? I kept thinking the mother character was Kim Cattrell, but it's not.

I saw the premiere at TIFF as well. I did find Scarlett Johansson's accent to be over the top. Also, at the Q & A afterwards, she just didn't seem to give a damn about the movie - she wasn't paying attention to the audience questions at all and her responses lacked any substance. But you could tell that the film was a labour of love for JGL. It was cool to hear him talk about it afterwards, how he enjoys playing characters that are the complete opposite of himself and how it is meant as a commentary on how the media depicts relationships and gender roles. He also looks very good in the movie :).

It was also clear from the audience at the film festival that his hitRECord online community has quite the fanbase and he's very in to crowd-sourcing his work. So a youtube trailer where he addressed his fan community made a lot of sense in that context.

It does have a plot, and it mostly circle's around JGL's character's personal growth.

Someone above mentioned Tony Danza - he was absolutely hilarious in this.

I'm gonna stop now before I spoil the entire movie.

I find that's ScarJo's general attitude pretty much all the time. She's really turned into a "I don't really give a shlt about whatever it is I'm here talking about and I'm kind of better than you so I think I'm just gonna go now..." every time she opens her mouth.

Jordan: I never really watch celebrity interviews, so I had no idea she was like that. But that sounds about right.

CATSNY: Yes, he has his shirt off fairly frequently in the film, and it's quite a site. No nudity for any of the actors, but lots of porn star nudity.

Plenty of comedies have nudity. He still could have showed his butt and got an R rating. Magic Mike was R. That's a lousy excuse.

Hold me closa, Tony Danza..

The only preview I've seen has JGL interrupted watching porn by a woman who disgustedly squeals "What are you DOING??"

Joe, come live with me. I would happily watch you watch porn all night. Every night.

I saw Don Jon this morning and there's stuff to like, but I wasn't in love with the film.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is indeed SUPER hot in the movie, and it doesn't get old for a second watching him workout and jerk off throughout. For a first time director I thought it was a nice effort, but I wasn't as wild with his work on the script.

I thought Scarlett Johansson was the best thing about the movie. Her character is interesting and I think the script gave her the most to work with.

I nearly screamed during the opening credits when I saw Brie Larson's name (she plays JGL's sister); her role is small, but she has one nice moment.

Julianne Moore's character is shoehorned into the plot, and I didn't really buy it.

I hated the scenes with JGL's friends. They were douchey, obnoxious Assholes and they verged on making his character turn hateful in the first half of film by association. There's a fine line between being a douche and funny/loveable (Johnny Drama) and being a douche and detestable.

I will say I was wrong about it being plotless, it in my defensive the plot is obscured in the trailer because it's all about watching porn. Maybe this is making too much of a generalization, but watching porn isn't such a big deal with gay guys as it appears to be with some segments of the straight community. I'm more apt to judge if you don't have a favorite Sean Cody performer than if you claim you don't know what I'm talking about.

No but Scarlett's character didn't know what Swiffer pads were, which I thought was weird.
