Is anyone watching Julia in HBO? I caught the interview on the horrid afternoon hour of Good Morning America where they were talking to Bebe Neuwirth and David Hyde Pierce.
As someone who loves Meryl Streep in Julie and Julia, I can't help but feel underwhelmed by this Julia. Heck, John Candy did a better Julia on SCTV.

I'm enjoying it. Very well cast; though I'd never heard of Sarah Lancashire before seeing this mini-series! Where'd she come from? She's very skilled and honors Julia's lilt-y voice without making it campy, even though she, herself, doesn't have nearly as guttural a tone as Julia Child did. David Hyde Pierce and Bebe Neuwirth are fantastic--especially in the "sick" scene in the hotel room in the most recent episode, lol! (Ep 7? Also loved that "Mr. Rogers" makes an appearance in that one, too.)
I'm also enjoying this series. As a big Julia Child fan (We share the same birthday and I once made cookies for her), I didn't expect much But it's won me over. There is a good spirit of fun and cleverness (the title "Breads" in one episode) and some terrific acting turns. It's uplifting, in a time when we all need some.
It was announced today that Julia has been renewed for a second season! More Bon Appetit!
I really love this show. It's a lovely tonic in troubled times. I find Sarah an absolute joy. She helps me appreciate the more tender and nuanced sides of Julia who is often portrayed as a ball breaker.

I fell in love with Sarah Lancashire from watching all 5 seasons of Last Tango in Halifax with Nicola Walker, Derek Jacobi and Anne Reid. The acting and storylines in this comedy drama are A+. It's on Netflix. I'm sorry it's over.

@Melissa25 - Thanks! Will have to check out "Last Tango in Halifax." It has come up on my queue but I skipped over it. Was watching "Call the Midwife" on PBS (final ep of S. 11 aired last night after that awful cliffhanger a few weeks ago). Right now catching the final eps of "Grace and Frankie." Maybe I'll tackle "Halifax" next!
I hope we get more than 8 eps in S.2 of "Julia."

Also be sure to check out Happy Valley on Netflix. That's where I became a huge fan of Sarah Lancashire.
