And it's not nearly as bad as the reviews have been saying so far. It definitely has it's issues but I had a lot of fun at it. As one of three straight guys on the planet who loved the TV show, I was ambivalent about how it would transfer to the screen. It is definitely too long (almost two hours and twenty minutes) and there are scenes that are really contrived and feel too forced but most scenes feel really natural and like they popped right out of the show. It's nice to see that this is a loyal and generally natural-feeling movie. The four girls are all great, the ending kinda irritated me, and the direction/writing by MPK is pretty good. It's definitely flawed but it's really fun and definitely a must-see for the legions of SATC fans.
I'd give it a B.
I plan on seeing it. Thanks for telling your thoughts.
Its not open in Boston till Friday 5/30!

Wickedrocks, was there a character who played the steady waitress for the girls' table each time they were in the coffee shop?
Are you a film critic? If not how did you see the film?
I will be at the first movie on Friday at 10 am. I have been dying to see this film all year.
Sadly, I was not at the NYC premiere.
I know so many in the film it just kills me.
I can't wait to see: Lynn Cohen(Magda)Julie Halston (BVM)
Nathan Lane(Her husband,ha!)and of course Kristin Davis and the rest of the fantastic cast.
Chris Noth is so sexy and I can't wait to see what BIG does in the film.
"I know so many in the film it just kills me."
Oh, me too, Corine. So many! oy. In fact, I should have been in it! It's killing me that I'm not. I want to see who has my role.
p.s. not joking
I saw the movie last night and loved it but.....there were several scenes where you could see the tech mic dropping into the top of the screen. It was annoying and distracting and I'm shocked no one noticed it. That was my only complaint.
I didn't notice the Boom mike at the advance screening I saw, but will look for it when I see it again this weekend. Loved it!
