Her single comes out today!! (6/27). I was just wondering if anybody has it and has any reviews/comments to make ~

Is it that atrocious thing she sang on the show? Why would anyone want to buy that? Why is it, that the worst thing anyone sings on AMERICAN IDOL, is the song that is written for the 2 finalists? You would think that the biggest music show in the world could attract some people with music composition talent.

It's My Destiny and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

I have it. I wish they would have just kept what they had for "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." They went a little overboard with the arrangement, and the melodic changes are unnecessary. What she did the first time she performed the song on the show was damn near perfection, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It IS good vocal, though.

"My Destiny" is a good vocal as well, but as we know, the song just flat out sucks. On recording, with Katharine's vocals intact, it's more bearable than when it was performed live, but the song just isn't any good.

Broadwaygirl, that McPhee's original arrangement for "...Rainbow" was good the first time is true.
And that would've been when Jane Monheit sang it.

It's ridiculous how completely ripped off that rendition is, Sueleen. Thing is, if McPEE could back it up with talent and outshine Monheit, I might not care.
thing is, she doesn't even come close.
Jane needs to march out onstage and rip out McPEE's wig.

Lord almighty - all this world needs is another version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I heard KM's attempt this morning on the radio. I listened to Judy for an hour after that just to cleanse my palette. The only rendition other than Judy's that I can handle is Eva Cassidy.

I sing for myself. I sing when I want, whenever I want to, just for me. I sing for my own pleasure. Do you understand that?

When she sang "My Destiny" on American Idol, the judges seemed to hold it against her, that they didn't like the song. Wasn't that something beyond her control???

How can anybody, compare ANYONE to Judy Garland? Was she not one of a kind?
Give the girl a break and give all the AI contestants credit for going as far as they did.
