I really think that she does a good job on 'Grey's' but for her to say something like this is crazy. Her movies have not really produced award winning performances either. People really take there success for granted.

Posted: 6/12/08 at 7:53amIt seems to me it's a rather clever way of getting a dig in at the show's writers, and a way for her to voice her displeasure for the role she had this season (I don't watch the show, so I have no idea how limited her role was). When she does it this way, she gets to knock the writers and comes out looking like such a kind, considerate person for "graciously stepping aside."

Posted: 6/12/08 at 8:49amShe seems like an intelligent and thoughtful woman who speaks her mind. While I may admire her, what the industry does with her behavior is another story.

I think it's admirable to not put your name on the ballot if you don't think your work was strong enough, but taking a shot at the writers was not the brightest move. She could've been much more diplomatic about it.
Izzie may have an unfortunate accident next season.

#7re: Katherine Heigl declines Emmy Nomination
Posted: 6/12/08 at 9:31amI don't understand the process but it seems like she's criticizing the writer's work and also not letting the academy do their job, which is really odd.

Yeah, considering the award is based on her acting ability, and not the writing, that was a really rude thing to do. Sure, Izzie was horrible this season, but that is still no reason to blame the writers. She could have been a horrible character, but doing an amazing acting job.
Personally, she has just sort of annoyed me lately. As an actor she should just realize that people might not like her characters, and it is nothing personal against her. But when she starts bad mouthing roles she has done, that really does not show class. Especially if the role gave her millions of dollars.

She did NOT "decline Emmy Nomination". Read the article.
"I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization" decided against competing,
I admire her for this. I don't watch the show, but she gets more press than any of the other actors who might be more deserving of a nomination this year. She won last year and she probably knows how the academy just likes to nominate the same people over and over, so she decided to take her name out of consideration for the other talented actors on the show.
I don't look at it as a slam at the writers, but acknowledging that the other characters were given stronger and more challenging story lines and material.
Good for her.

Way to completely misunderstand.

"Boy, there just seems to be no end to the backstage drama on this show."
More than there is on screen! I cant stand this show...tried it a few times...dislike all of the characters for the most part. The only light I saw on the show was Ms. Heigl and Mr. Knight. I thought they were both very good. She was charming in that stupid "Knocked Up" movie.
I think as a person, she's fab.
BTW, didnt Bill Cosby take his name out of the running for several years so someone else would have a chance at winning because it was assumed he'd win every year for "The Cosby Show"? Can something be kinda nice, but kinda douche-y?
Besides me, of course.

Yeah, but why wouldn't she just say, "I won last year. I don't need another nomination"?
Of COURSE it was a dig at the writers. She's already gone on record that she didn't like where they took her character this season, and she has a tendency to bite the hand that feeds her (witness her comments about "Knocked Up" once the backlash began).

i hope that she wins an emmy for the episode in which her face is burned beyond regonition and she has to do the rest of the run of the show in prosthetics requiring 6 hours in make-up. i also hope that she wins a second emmy the following season for the episode in which her character confronts her own racism and homophobia and how it led to the character being fired and going to work for the circus as "the thing from hell."

Posted: 6/12/08 at 12:00pmLike I said, I don' watch the show so I don't know what her character arc was this season, but I do know she is not one to mince her words. She didn't say "The writing sucked this year", which, after calling Knocked Up "misogynistic", you might expect if that is how she really feels.

Yeah, but she doesn't have to report to work on the set of Knocked Up every day.
I don't see how it can NOT be construed as a dig against the writers and her distaste for the material she was presented with.

Posted: 6/12/08 at 1:47pmConsidering that there were 10 episodes left that had to be condensed into 5 because of the writer's strike her character didn't have a very good arch this season. I don't blame her for not wanting to be considered.

Add that to the fact that she was on the front lines supporting the writers throughout the strike on what seemed a daily basis (I saw it on Extra!
)
