I don't know what took me so long to actually sit down and watch some of her stand-up. But I watched her on Bravo a few nights ago, and I've been hooked ever since.
Actually, that most recent satand up was her worst, imo...though I still laughed a bit.
If you want to really howl, watch one of her earlier Bravo specials when she tells of her backstage brush with Whitney Houston or her Hollywood Squares stories. I think they are from her first special.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
I think it might have been Allegedly. I think you'd remember the stories about Whitney and Hollywood Squares...you'd remember crying with laughter.

Kathy Griffin: The D-List (2004) Originally aired March 24, 2004. Topics include Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Griffin's appearances on Hollywood Squares with Anna Nicole Smith and Little Richard, and hosting an AmfAR event with Sharon Stone.
Kathy Griffin: Allegedly (2004) Direct to DVD release, later aired on Bravo. Allegedly is Griffin's only two-hour special. Topics include pitching a sitcom to NBC, the VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards, Gywneth Paltrow, Scientology, the 9/11 celebrity telethon, appearing the music video for "The Real Slim Shady" with Eminem, Griffin's trip to Afghanistan, Brooke Shields' wedding, and The View.
Whores On Crutches had a rough first half (really? Multiple impressions of Asian women?) but the second half was insane talking about the reality shows and her mother. I think it was way better than Kathy Griffin Does The Bible Belt. No argument that her older stuff like Allegedly (holds a special place in my heart since that is when I first discovered her), The D List, and Strong Black Woman were better but I still liked the second-half of the most recent special. But I felt like I learned more about The View incident in her interview with Howard Stern than her what she presented in her stand-up.
I saw her do the Sharon Stone/AmFAR story in a small club in Montreal the summer before she taped that special. I thought I was going to pass out from oxygen deprivation I was guffawing so hard.
Whores on Crutches wasn't her best, but I don't think it was the worst (the bit about the OCD lady had me rolling). "Kathy Does The Bible Belt" was her most lackluster special, imo.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
I agree that the Bible Belt special was the least spicy.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
The newer specials are not as funny and some of the anecdotes run way too long. Sometimes an anecdote is a whole 15 minute segment.
I still like Allegedly the best about her meeting with Kelsey Grammar and the butt crack sweat and her being behind the "mildly retarded" Macy Grey in the Grammys Security line.
Her "For Your Consideration" CD was pretty lame too if you ask me.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
I've been a huge fan of Kathy's for years. If you haven't checked it out already, I highly recommend watching Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, her reality show.
