Ken Mehlman is not only gay, and a Republican, and a bottom-feeding traitor, and a gutless slime-sucking hypocrite.

He's also a virgin. Given this bastard's lies on the subject of his sex life all these years, this should be taken with a grain of salt, but I have to say that I hope he continues in his state of abject purity. I can't think of anyone more deserving of chastity than Ken Mehlman. Let him live out the rest of his a virgin. Let him die UNLAID.

From a Q&A session with Marc Ambinder, politics editor of The Atlantic.

Ambinder says:

People were suspicious of Mehlman's sexuality for years. Who knew? The people who "knew" are the people who Ken had sex with. But Ken says he had sex with no one, and told no one, because he didn't want to tell anyone, because he was uncomfortable with that part of his life. I don't doubt that Bill Maher thought that Ken was gay, but how could he know? I haven't found a single person who says that Ken outed himself to them earlier. I've found several people -- including reporters who asked him -- who Ken lied to about his sexual orientation. Gaydar exists. It's possible, and probable, that many gay people (and straight people) pegged Ken as gay before Ken was willing to face up to the fact himself. But that's a far cry from saying that anyone "knew" anything and covered it up. If I outed everyone I suspected was gay, I'd be a bad person, firstly, and very very busy, secondly.

What's interesting in that comments section is the discussion of the media jumped on board the outing of Judge Vaughn without a problem, but tiptoed around the Mehlman stuff. Liberal media, indeed.

I just don't give a flying f*ck about Ken Mehlman.

I agree with Joe Jervis and Michelangelo Signorele.

Jervis- You don't have to be gay or out to know that discrimination and bigotry is wrong.Don't let Mehlman's personal journey babble snow you.

Signorele - ,Everybody has a journey but no matter where you are, there is right and wrong. The Republican Party at the time was pushing a virulently anti-gay campaign demonizing gay people in the states. He was the Republican National Committee chairman. He okayed all of the ads, ads that really turned gay people into monsters in many communities, and you know, a lot of people knew he was gay back then. It has been talked about and blogged about. I don't know how far along he was on his journey, but I think he was far enough that he knew right from wrong.

I don't immediately open my arms to anyone who claims to be reformed. Not after they enabled countless initiatives to make my life harder, and the lives of my friends and loved ones, to try to strip my rights and demonize me. It's not hate and heartless on my part.

And don't try to tell me the Republican party is full of forgiveness and compassion, you repugnant little troll. It's pretty clear that this is the only place you feel big- posting ignorance and lies to rattle our cages. But I guess that's what comes when you're used for spitball practice every day.

I could get past his lack of physical attributes with no problem, Dollypop, but where's the inner beauty? There's no attraction to be had on any level. What would be the point? I can't imagine why he bothered to come out at all.

I find that comment so incredibly sad. I have little respect for Mehlman .. but.. that comment got me thinking.. if Mehlman looked like my favorite underwear model, would I react differently?

I honestly think I would. I (and I believe MANY others) would being making flip remarks about volunteering to be his first.

I'm actually feeling pangs of compassion for the guy. Not respect, but definitely some compassion.

I found it a sad comment too, Almira, hence my post. While I completely understand and even share your pangs of compassion, there isn't enough hot in the world for me to find this twisted soul attractive. Maybe I need to turn in my gay (okay, bi) card.

I prefer an entirely different kind of twisted, thank you.
