Absolutely brilliant in every way. I still think that the screenplay, Thurman, David Carradine, and the sound deserved nominations for Kill Bill: Vol. 2.

The sequence between Uma and the swordsmith in his teashop--priceless.
The "jokey" anime sequence depicting O-Ren's parents' deaths--gut-churningly awful.

I was surprised by how much I loved KILL BILL. Particularly Volume 2, which has the real meat of the story.
I found Volume 1 to be a fun but cartoonish prologue to Volume 2, which has all the pathos and character revelations. Vol. 1 plays like a video game, while Vol. 2 has more intrigue and depth.
Peach, which moments in Volume 2 did you find freaky? I actually found Volume 1 much worse, with all the beheadings and lopped limbs and pools of blood. If it's the eyeball thing, the same thing happens in Volume 1 at the nightclub.
Uma Thurman is a goddess.

Please let us not forget what should have been heralded as THE comeback of the new millenium: Daryl Hannah. Absolute, sheer, utter brilliance. I adored her.
Uma is my goddess, though, I realize it's not the kind of role designed to win awards, but I think she was so Oscar worthy.

Woohoo! BlueWizard, we're perfectly in agreement. Volume 1 was pretty but empty; it's Volume 2 that actually got me kind of interested in the characters. The two are not on my list of all-time greats, but they're distinct and well-crafted enough that I can see why others adore them.

And I completely agree with you about Daryl Hannah. It was a small role, and she ran with it.

She didn't get nominations for either, but she should have. I think her work in Vol. 2 is the best of her career. But, despite her lack of recognition, it is a role that will soon become a part of movie history.

BlueWizard, she got a Golden Globe nomination. It's possible she was nominated for a SAG award but I'm not sure and too lazy to google.

BlueWizard - In Volume 2, I found the grave scene particualrly uncomfortable - very claustrophobic. Also, when Daryl Hannah gets her eye ripped out and when Micahel Madsen gets attacked by the mamba. Ack! It's crazy! But it's really the grave scene. I wince every time I watch that one.
The violence in Volume 1 is more blood and guts and gore, but volume 2 - something about the characters' motives, and what happens to the "victims" of said motives is more chilling in a way.
I do love the sequence in Volume 2 when Uma is in "training" with the funny teacher.
