How awful!
I love my kindle, especially how easy it is for it to sync with my iphone so ordering books is a breeze and both devices know where I am in the book I'm reading.
Now they've gotten rid of the ability to buy books from the app, so you either have to order from your kindle, or I guess from the amazon website.
BOOOO!
How bizarre. Some sort of agreement must have expired. I don't know why Amazon would offer a Kindle app to Apple without an agreement to order the books on Amazon from their devices.

Are you referring to something beyond what happened back in July?

It's definitely annoying that Apple did this, but you can still bookmark the Kindle store in Safari on your iPhone or iPad and order books that way.
I'm assuming this is what the above link is about.
Apple decided that they would make some more money by charging different applications 30% of anything they sold on an app. So Amazon would have to pony up nearly 1/3 of its selling price to apple. RIDICULOUS.
So, Amazon opted to remove the store link from the ap. The above poster is also correct that you can simply buy from amazon using Safari. Easy peasy.
I have no such headaches with my hardcovers and paperbacks. :)
I have no headaches with my kindle, either. I seldom use my iPhone app as I don't like reading on a back lit screen.
Love my kindle.
