Yeah, it sounds like Madonna, but who cares, I like it.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

That's so funny, it's like a Madonna tribute act where the woman performing the songs showed up in the recording studio and was actually invested in sounding engaged with the song she was singing.

It reminds me of some of my fave Kylie bsides--BPM specifically. I don't see any more Madonna similarities than she is usually claimed to have--the fact that she smiles at the camera in and of itself seems to dismiss any Madonna similarity. I certainly don't see any element of Girl Gone Wild (except having some of it in B&W?) I think it's pretty great (but yes, I am biased as a huge fan)--makes her whole 25th Anniversary in the biz thing pick up (what happened to the montly orchestral versions of her hits--we got two...).

Her Santa Baby at Rockefeller center last year was good:

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

I really feel like the only Kylie CDs I ever appreciated were Fever and Body Language. Everything else seems so contrived and I don't feel like she ever developed her own persona. She's always been in Madonna's shadow which is why she never crossed over successfully. She's never had enough originality to strike a chord.

Also, I feel like she's had a lot of tinkering done on her face and looks older than her 44 years. To me, she has looked like a 50 something woman whose had work since she was in her early 30s.

I never got the Kylie hysteria. She's coming out with yet another repackaged greatest hits to milk her fans even more. Let's focus on making some more hits instead, shall we dear?

I think you are justified about her pop career--she has had a lot of (I think) great songs, but her self penned album Impossible Princess completely bombed.

I don't think she's had much done to her face at all, but it's probably wiser to get the opinion of someone who knows. What she does do is put on a wicked, mean show. There are few pop concerts that can compare to Kylie. (In her defence the new Greatest Hits is a contractual issue but it is lame not to even have one rare track)
