Oh - I thought this was going to be a Sueleen tribute thread.

My bad.

I saw a preview screening of this. The whole audience was in tears at some parts. Very funny movie.

TOBEING - Was it more of a drama with funny moments or a comedy with dramatic moments?

I can't wait to see this movie either.

Also because I love Steve Carell and every other movie that he has been in.

That's a tough question, Sandwich. The beginning of the movie was pretty much comedy with some dramatic parts...but then towards the end it became more of a drama, but still funny. There was definitely a mix of both. Overall it was a very good movie and everyone coming out of the theatre seemed to have loved it.

I did a double feature today.
Little Miss Sunshine followed by The Devil Wears Prada.
Both movies are incredible.
Little Miss Sunshine has so much HEART. I predict a Best Picture Nomination.
The Devil Wears Prada was unbelievable.

Did anyone notice all the theater stars in the film?
George C Wolfe. The guy from Take Me Out. Amazing.

can't wait for this movie, even though the trailer reveals a rather huge spoiler. but i don't care because movies like this aren't "plot-heavy".

There was a spoiler in the trailer?

I just got back from LMS, and it was AMAZING. By far the funniest movie of the year. And while yes, it was also a feel good movie, it doesn't hit you over the head with cheese and schmaltz.

Such great performances.

Probably not gonna get any major award nominations, but it was great.

Paul Dano for such a young actor (who has been making movies for 6 years) he has shown some amazing versatility. From L.I.E. to The Girl next door (yes, a dumb teen sex comedy, but suprisingly good) to The Emperor's Club to now Little Miss Sunshine (and he's also in the upcoming movie version of the best selling book Fast Food Nation).

Awesome to hear, ZONEACE. I believe this is being released nationally either this week or the 18th, which is awesome. This is the only movie that could ever pry me from seeing SNAKES ON A PLANE!

I'm sad I won't be able to see SoAP until september or maybe even early october.

I saw this movie Saturday with a friend. It was brilliant and amazingly funny. I was in tears from laughing so hard during the dance scene.

I saw it this weekend. Hysterical!
The preposterousness of a couple of plot turns, one in particular, could've turned me off if the performances weren't so great and I wasn't totally invested in those characters.
Can't imagine it won't get nominated for a bunch of Independent Spirit awards. It definitely should get award noms of all kinds.

Paul Dano does so much with so little. Its great.

I hear that a child actually gets fully naked in it?

Not in the print I saw.
This is such a sweet and funny film. Every performance is great. I thought the screenplay had some flaws, mostly in the last third, but the cast and directing makes up for the shortcomings.

*******SPOILERS**********

Call me crazy, but I kept thinking this was a modern day Grapes of Wrath. Did anyone else get that? Depressed, financially strapped dysfunctional family goes to California in a clunky old vehicle to follow the dream. Grandparent dies on the way, they have to resort to storing the body and keep the authorities from finding out. When they get there it is not at all what they thought they were going to find. Even the scene on the pier with the Uncle and the Nephew reminded me of the scene with Ma Joad and Tom. Am I reaching here? Or did anyone else pick up on that.

PEACE.

In LMS?

cause i certainly didn't see any naked children, thankfully, although, i wouldn't mind seeing paul dano naked, but despite playing a young teenager (15 or 16) he's older than I (21) by like 7 months.
