I can't wait, but that opening footage of the airplane coming apart -- yikes, it reminds me of the harrowing one in the Jeff Bridges movie, RECKLESS. Took me years to get over that.

After that dreary LAX, we need a winner. At least we have a new show that doesn't have promos of people in white gloves fingering a cadaver. I'm sooooo Law and Order and forensic evidenced-ed out. What's next, CSI Peoria?

I like it. It's got a lot of potential, it looks like they're setting up for several subplots with the rest of the characters too.

I hope Emily DeRaven plays the good guy this time. I hated her in ROSWELL (YES! I'm a ROSWELL fan! [when it was on the WB and then UPN, not now on SciFi...ewww.]) because her character was so evil. This time around she's pregnant (again!), but judging from the preview for next week it looks like the baby may no longer be alive. Sad. I'm interested in how this is going to work as a series and not a mini-series or movie. Anyone have any clue what the "thing" is? I'm guessing some kind of dinosaur something or other, but I'm probably way off... lol. I'll keep watching.

i thought the same thing too, but i didnt know if he was going to be "realistic" and not put dinosaurs or not. if he is going to have something that is not real, i laughed at this, but if you watch Alias (hint, icon. fave show.anyway) he has some CRAZY story lines, it might be some giant dog or something. WHATS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE DOG? i found that VERY odd. maybe its his mom. lol. i hate J.J abrams, he always addicts me to a show to the point of scheduling my days around it.

i found it weird that-Kendall in alias, doesnt have a name here yet-(bald man)why he did the thing with the orange? he seems creepy. someone on the abc boards also suggested that the dog belonged to him, though most think it's the little kid's.

Well, it certainly was exciting, but it has the potential to become silly very quickly. Anyone reminded of Land of the Lost. If I see a single dinosaur, I'm not watching it again.

I have a feeling we are not going to see the 'thing' for a while.

I thought it was harrowing. Cannot wait for next week.

Yep, we'll be waiting a long time -- certainly until November sweeps.

Oddly enough, it reminded me of a Stephen King story that has zip to do with a plane crash or island -- THE MIST. Anyone else know that longish work? About the people trapped in grocery store? It's one of my favorite, even if the premise is sorta Outer Limits. This show captures some of that MIST feeling, particularly the girl in denial who wouldn't eat the chocolate bar (loved that -- she's awaiting a low carb meal on the rescue ship!)

I think the dog belongs to the black guy and his son. Didn't the son at one point say "maybe that was scruffy" (or whatever the dog's name is)

The kendall from Alias thing with the orange was obviously trying to be the Marlon Brando death scene from Godfather, but I don't get why he did it either.

If they're really trying to scretch reality (and they already are) the critter might be I'm going to say it... a dinosaur on some sort. So 'Lost' could be like 'Land of the Lost' that show scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

If they're only trying to skew reality, the critter might be some sort of giant snake, but I'm betting on dinosaur.

The girl who plays Kate is hot.

The reviewer in the Chicago Sun Times thinks it will be hard for them to maintain the level of intensity. I'm afraid he might be right.

I was hooked as I knew I would be! YAY for "LOST" I can't wait for next week. And man did Weis (from "Alias") die terribly, yuck!
It started with a sipmle idea, collecting one paper clip for every life lost, the feelings that connect us...are greater than those that divide us!
