I was surprised at the relatively low box-office numbers.
I'm a big Julia Roberts fan, so will probably see the movie regardless - but is it worth the $$ just to see her toothy smile?
I thought this had the potential to be another classic Julia movie, but I guess not - with the reviews and takings...will there ever be another one?

Posted: 7/4/11 at 9:48amI was planning on seeing this on Friday but to be hones, the TRANSFORMER crowds made me stay away from the theater.I'll probably see a matinee this week but I am sad it did so poor at the box office. I wonder if they waited til the end of July or August to release it if it would have done better. Always like Tom Hanks and I wanted this to be a hit for him. It's been years since I've seen THAT THING YOU DO but I remember liking it.

Posted: 7/4/11 at 9:52amI saw it around a month ago and loved every second of it. But as everyone knows I think Julia Roberts is the second coming so she can never do any wrong and any time she chooses to grace humanity with her presence on screen is a time to rejoice and reflect on on how she has forever changed each and every one of us and made us all better people for having gazed upon her.

I'm glad it underperformed. Maybe film makers and film studios will realize people are not sheep who just salivate at any starry pairing. The movie looked like s@#t. Also, I know there is only an 11 year age difference, but Tom Hanks looks like an old man next to Julia and their romantic coupling makes me sick. More Hollywood male nonsense. Total junk.
In what world would a woman that looks like Julie Roberts get involved with a dude (Tom Hanks wearing his worst rug EVER-looks like a dead skunk) that lost a job in a big box store. He'd be a real prize. Of course they give Julia an unfulfilling relationship so Tom Hanks looks like a prize. Movies like this get made????? Who greenlights this crap?

I'm still gonna go see it...can't be worse than The Mexican...I hope.
Bettboy, the film studios might realize people aren't sheep - then they'll see Transformers grosses and instantly forget!
Jordan, is your qualification that you love everything about Julia Roberts an admission that maybe this movie isn't up to par? I hope not, because Julia herself actually is reason enough for me to see this movie - as I said, the only movie where even SHE couldn't sustain me was The Mexican.

Posted: 7/8/11 at 4:52pmJust saw this today. My advice - save your money and time. Possibly one of the worst films ever. Slow, predictable, cardboard characters. I would have left after 45 minutes but my husband was sleeping so peacefully I didn't have the heart to wake him.
