Wow! My 17 year-old son has been going about this totally wrong! Instead of making good grades, getting experience, and studying great plays and playwrights for acting, I should have just told him to knock up the 17 year old daughter of a VP candidate! Then he could get cast in a national commercial and get his start in show business! It just amazes me how people are famous for doing nothing! Geez! p.s. however, I am glad to see the Palin karma

Levi's participation has generated buzz for them that they would never have gotten with anyone else. I have more problems with stars like Gene Hackman and Stockard Channing who do voiceover work for TV commercials. I am no more or less likely to go to Lowe's because Hackman voices their commercials, so why not let a 'regular' actor get the work?

When I was in high school I remember there used to be all sorts of slogs with "do it" in them. "Thespians do it ... on stage." "Math Club members do it ... with a compass." Or some such, so it's really just nothing more than dumb innuendo, with the "protection" of the bodyguard.

I feel bad for Levi. I mean, I feel bad for all of the kids that have had misfortune of having to look the senior Palins for guidance, but Levi is the one who is going to wind up dead (probably an OD) by 30, or in porn, or something like that. His just does not strike me as a story with a happy ending.

Brian, I used to teach Marketing and the theory behind using celebs for voice overs is that you recognize something about the voice (you may not know exactly who it is) that puts you at ease, therefore trusting the company.

^^ The point I was tryin (and failing, I guess) to make was that celeb voiceovers in commercials should go to 'regular' actors. I wasn't referring to Levi as any sort of actor.
