Today, Obama made a remark about the hypocrisy of the McCain campaign, using the phrase, "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig". Of course, the McCain campaign responded, criticizing Obama of making sexist remarks, and stating that he owes Palin an apology. What the McCain campaign forgot to mention, but the Obama campaign was quick to point out, McCain has used the exact same phrase to describe Hillary Clinton's healthcare plan.

PJ - where did you find Cindy McCain pre-plastic-surgery photo?
I've always preferred pigs with a little makeup.
That was an offensive hit from the Obama campaign. Cool and calculated. It's good to know Obama knows he's dealing with Rove.
He puts himself out there with that comment but knew full well McCain said it before.
So this thread's not about Rosie O'Donell?
Damn.

Too bad Obama stumbles so many times in trying to tell the joke. It's like he memorized a script and can't quite remember the order of the joke.
That's a pretty old and very common phrase. Interesting that Mcain thought it was about Palin. If someone used that phrase in front of me, I wouldn't say, "You owe me an apology".

The comment is not about Sarah Palin.
If he had meant Ms. Palin, Obama would have said 'lipstick on a snake'.
Lipstick is the top story of the day.
We're officially a nation of idiots.
cal, that is an inherently sexist comment!

I guess Obama should avoid the old expression, "That dog won't hunt", because we know for a fact that she does hunt!
And actually, isn't the line about stinky fish even more sexist?
He wasn't even talking about Palin when he made the comment. McCain is reaching for straws here and is showing just how ignorant he is. We are finally getting rid of Bush do we need someone just like him to replace him???
I think the dog comment would be okay, since she already compared herself to one.

Obaba should have said that they are trying to "white wash" their campaign, then he would be accused of being racist.
The thing is, if he'd just said "you can roll a turd in glitter, but it's still a turd", then his point would have carried, without everyone going "OMG WHAT A DELIBERATE DIG HOW DARE HE!". It's only because he used the L word that everything has gone up.
Yeah, it makes OUR news in the UK everytime one of YOUR politicians says the word "lipstick". As a nation, how does that make you feel?
And McCain used the same expression during the primaries to describe Hillary's healthcare plan.
It's a diversion because McCain/Palin have NOTHING of substance to run on.
This is clearly an important issue that will determine my vote.
When will the lipstick lesbians speak up about this scandalous comment clearly leveled right at them?
"It's a diversion because McCain/Palin have NOTHING of substance to run on."
It's a diversion because, once again, the Republicans are leading the MSM around by the nose, while at the same time portraying themselves as victims.
McCain had better be careful what he says regarding the pigs and lipstick remark.

Maybe if Obama had said that Palin plasters on makeup like a trollup and called her a c*nt, McCain would have been OK with it.

And what about Mariel Hemingway??? This was clearly a smear against her performance in LIPSTICK. Obama is SUCH a bastard!
Obama responds.
