Lee LaHaye? Is that Tim and Beverly's bouncing baby boy? Oh, please, please let it be, oh divine karma. And let Beverly and Phyllis wear big church lady hats to his and John Schlafly's wedding.

Side note: Why does Concerned Women for America have so many male members, including some of its leaders?

CNN tells YouTube to pull down video outing GOP party head Ken Mehlman

by John in DC - 11/09/2006 02:24:00 PM

I just got a cease-and-desist letter from YouTube, see below, regarding my CNN footage I posted. The footage, you'll recall, was from Larry King Live last night in which Bill Maher outed Republican Party chair Ken Mehlman as gay. It seems that CNN has suddenly decided that it no longer wants bloggers, or YouTube, posting any of its video, which is kind of surprising since I always thought we were doing a CNN a favor by constantly touting their network. Apparently I was wrong.

NOTE: You can still see the entire video on Huff Post.

CNN has also now edited the official transcript of Larry King Live, so that no one will ever know what really happened. Here is CNN's transcript:
MAHER: A lot of the chiefs of staff, the people who really run the underpinnings of the Republican Party are gay. I don't want to mention names, but I will on Friday night.

KING: You will Friday night?

MAHER: Well, there's a couple of big people who I think everyone in Washington knows who run the Republican...

KING: You will name them?

MAHER: Well, I wouldn't be the first. I'd get sued if I was the first. (A PORTION OF THIS TRANSCRIPT HAS BEEN REMOVED)

KING: Great way to close out this segment. It's poignant.
CNN didn't just edit out the naming of Mehlman as gay, they even edited out Larry's question, and Maher's answer, about why gay people sometimes work against their own people. Now why is that question being censored by CNN?

I plan to cut the video back to ten seconds, the crucial part where Bill Maher outs Mehlman, then put it back up (I also still have the 3 meg file, 1 minute 20 seconds long - as do lots of other people, including the Huff Post). I have a law degree from Georgetown and I know intellectual property law as it concerns journalism. You can post an 8 to 10 second video clip as fair use for news purposes, and that is what I plan to do. And if CNN and Google try to close down my YouTube account for using an 8-10 second snippet for news purposes, they're going to have serious problems.

"CNN's John King just reported that Ken Mehlman will be leaving as chair of the Republican National Committee (i.e., head of the Republican party) by the end of the year. Apparently Kenny's just tuckered out. According to King, "He's been on the gerbil wheel, as one of his close friends put it, for well in excess of six years now and he's tired."

outing, schmouting. ken just presided over a colossal ass-f*cking of the gop. on his watch they lost both hoses of congress. not one, both. as the chair of the rnc, his ideas didn't work this time and he had sense enough to fall on his sword (even as he was swallowing someone else's) before the long knives came out for him. had he not left i think the gop would have outed him just to get rid of him.

Here's a press release from a Religious Right organization (Peter LaBarbera's "Americans For Truth") that dizzyingly thinks gays on George Allen's staff THREW the election.

Huh?

AFT Calls on Republican Senatorial Comm. to Rescind 'Sexual Orientation' Policy, Says Pro-'Gay' Political Correctness Led to Sen. Allen's Loss

Contact: Peter LaBarbera, Americans For Truth, 630-546-4439

NAPERVILLE, Ill., Nov. 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- Americans For Truth President Peter LaBarbera today called on the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) to rescind its “sexual orientation” policy as inconsistent with the GOP’s professed pro-family values, and said pro-“gay” Political Correctness contributed to Sen. George Allen’s narrow loss for re-election in Virginia.

LaBarbera also called on all homosexual staff in both major parties to be open about their lifestyle in the interest of full disclosure to the public and each Member’s constituents.

Allen’s defeat--after failing to strongly embrace Virginia’s successful marriage amendment--led to the GOP’s loss of the Senate. Allen is widely reported to have homosexual staff. Jay Timmons, a senior Allen aide and former director of the NRSC, is among those being targeted for “outing” by homosexual bloggers, as is Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman.

“In recent weeks, homosexual activists have sought to ‘out’ various high-level GOP staffers and leaders as homosexuals, to highlight their hypocrisy in working for a socially conservative party,” LaBarbera said. “Now we in the pro-family movement are calling for full disclosure for a different reason: because homosexual GOP staff and pro-‘gay’ policies in the party are undermining the wholesome values Republicans say they support.”

Noting that the homosexual newspaper Washington Blade reported in 2004 that the NRSC has a nondiscrimination policy based on “sexual orientation,” LaBarbera said: “Who knew that the Republican Party committee responsible for electing senators across the country has embraced the exact same pro-homosexual ‘orientation’ policy that social conservatives have been fighting for decades?”

Due to the Mark Foley scandal, social conservatives are learning about the existence of a network of homosexual GOP staffers on Capitol Hill who promote policies antithetical to the party’s stated “family values.”

In 2004, the pro-family group PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays) was outraged when Sen. Allen refused to sign their pledge supporting tolerance for former homosexuals, then went ahead and broke a promise to another pro-family group by backing a pro-“gay” federal “Hate Crimes” bill. Allen also signed a pro-homosexual “nondiscrimination” pledge for his Senate office.

“George Allen’s lukewarm support for Virginia’s marriage amendment cost him his Senate seat,” LaBarbera said. “Now we are left to wonder: did the stealth influence of gay Republican staffers move him toward this course that would ultimately turn the Senate over to the Democrats?”

Americans For Truth is dedicated to equipping Americans to confront the homosexual and transgender activist agendas. Phone: 630-717-7631. AFT, PO Box 5522, Naperville, IL 60567-5522. E-mail: americansfortruth@comcast.net.

it's long past time for the gop to cut ties with the evangelicals. it's one thing to pay them lip service when they are helping win elections (disgusting, but politics make for strange bedfellows, and no that doesn't make it right in any way shape or form), but when they abandon the party because it's not puritanical enough for them and vote democrat as over a third of them did this time out? f*ck 'em. time for the gop to get back to being conservatives and leave the social engineering for the democrats. too much of our souls sold for far too little return.

playing to the zealots on either side is playing with fire. you'll never be able to go far enough to satisfy them and by the time you realize how far you've gone, you've lost too many supporters to survive without the crazies. when the crazies turn on ya for not being attentive enough to their insanity, yer f*cked.

hopefully the gop can get back to focusing on conservative issues and leave the religious right to ponder their fate with no access to power and nothing to do but squeal like the spoiled little hypocrits that they are. let 'em start a third party: the batsh*t crazies and see how far they go. sure they'll take boatload of the gop vote at first, but change is painful.
