Live Earth Concerts

I wish I hadn't turned it on. Will I be stuck inside all day watching this? The same thing happend to me during Live Aid 22 years ago. Except I quit my job so I could stay home and watch the late afternoon/evening acts. (Shut up, I was young. [er])
Okay, some things I have learned so far:
1) Blue Man Group never fail to be creative, clever and heartwarming. Their global warming clip is brilliant.
2) God help me, I think Phil Collins is sexy.
3) I have no idea who Kenna is but he made me a fan.
4) Red Hot Chili Peppers must be the Band Least Likely to Become Mainstream Icons Who Have Managed to Do It Anyway. I'd pay to sniff the drummer's armpits. (Shut up, like you don't have some kinks.)
5) I thought I had never heard of KT Tunstall, but I knew half her set. Loved her in spite of myself and her gold lame pantyhose.
6) God help me, I liked two Keane songs.
7) It's actually fun to hear what steps people have taken to counteract their carbon output. God love that freak Daryl Hannah for living off the grid.
How can so many unsexy parts add up to James Hetfield being sexy?

Posted: 7/7/07 at 3:55pmHoly crap. Keith Urban (whom I've never really cared for) and Alicia Keys doing one of the top three of the greatest Rolling Stones songs ("Gimme Shelter") proved that in spite of everything it has going against it, rock and roll can still be transcendant.

Posted: 7/7/07 at 5:35pmHey Namo, I'm DVR-ing it as to zoom through the crap. Is it worth watching for the most part?

Posted: 7/7/07 at 5:42pmIf you like rap music (which I do not)- you'll love this concert. Make some noooiiise! Wave your hands in the air! I'm waiting for some of the bigger names tonight- the Police, The Smashing Pumkins...

I got caught in the traffic mob of every attending the one at Giants Stadium.
James Hetfield, oh lord, my childhood love (and yet I am only 23). He was the man that at the age of 12 i told my father I was going to marry. memories.
BroadwayBoobs: I'll give all of you who weren't there a hint of who took the pictures ...it rhymes with shameless
SOMMS: I knew it was Tink!

Posted: 7/7/07 at 5:55pmBecause he can have simulated sex with underaged girls at his concerts! I don't know why some of these rappers get to share the same stage with truly excellent musicians. My daughter came in when Ludacris was on and said he isn't even doing anything that hard! I thinks they are famous because the beats are fun and they are "easy" to sing along with.

I've been jumping between Bravo, Sundance and the online live feeds. Bravo is the "most" live on TV, things that are on there turn up on Sundance later.
Online I saw Madonna's last song (still can't stay on key, but you gotta love her for showing up) on the UK feed, then flipped to Toni Collette's band (I know, right?) on the Australia feed, which was great.
The Pussycat Dolls lead singer is singing live and has no pitch problems.
I'm surprised how I've killed the whole day and really MUST turn everything off now to save some electricity.

Posted: 7/7/07 at 6:01pmre: The Pussycat Dolls- I thought they just did a search for a new one and picked this girl Asia. I didn't even see her performing with them. I like Nicole- started watching her on Pop Stars when she was in Eden's Crush. All I know is these girls give me incentive to keep going to the gym- what amazing bodies!

john mayer is cuter than ever. good grief.
i'm enjoying what i've seen and heard so far. is it still live on bravo or is this repeat?
re: Live Earth Concerts#10
Posted: 7/7/07 at 6:09pmWatching John Mayer now too! His guitar playing is amazing- just looks like he's always in pain when he's performing. Nice break from the rappers though!

well pain and pleasure can look the same so I just imagine the opposite when I watch him perform.
sigh.
re: Live Earth Concerts#13
Posted: 7/7/07 at 6:14pmBravo seems to be live-est. Sundance often has a couple more songs from each artist though. It's a multitasker's heaven, I guess.
re: Live Earth Concerts#14
Posted: 7/7/07 at 7:31pmI thought that was Toni Collette, but it was early and I didn't know she had a band. THE WILD PARTY was one of my first B-way shows. I'm watching Sundance...I thought they would have the best coverage...guess not. Still waiting for Madonna.
9/18 - Brian Stokes Mitchell, Cincy Pop's
9/28 - Death Of A Salesman, Wright State

Posted: 7/7/07 at 8:10pmOk..I swear, if Kelly Clarkson keeps doing what she's doing she's going to sound like Harvey Fierstein in a few years. That girl need to find a good vocal coach.

I think it's great that Smashing Pumpkins gave Chris Burke of Life Goes On a job. They're definitely giving the least necessary performance of the day, and that's saying something.
ETA Whoops! Joss Stone. Forgive me Billy Corgan, I take it all back.

Posted: 7/7/07 at 11:31pmI just got in, and I'm glad that Bravo is now going to show best of Live Earth starting now, 11:30 in case anyone wants to watch.

Wow! Alicia Keyes rocked it! Plus she's stunning.
And boy is Keith Urban hot~ I'm loving this so far.
Madonna looked gorgeous, sounded a little breathless but who cares, she's still singing and dancing live at almost 50. What a body-still!!!!

Singing off-key and dancing live. Although, I think they haven't figured out how to dance-sync yet, but when they do you know Britney Spears will be the first adapter of the new technology.
Alicia and Keith Urban were absolutely fantastic, as was her solo set.
