Posted: 7/31/08 at 5:04pmShe survived congestive heart failure, a broken back (five times), two hip replacements, a benign brain tumor, skin cancer, pneumonia (twice), an attack by knife wielding immigrants, Food poisoning from eating some fried chicken she found in someone's yard, killer bee attacks (4) and that Minnelli-Gest wedding. She'll be fine.

oh my! I guess she'll pull through all right if she can survive killer bee attacks.
I'm sure she had meds available for Liza's wedding.

"Quick, someone please quote Trudy in STEEL MAGNOLIAS."
It's TruVy, and are we just quoting her in general or was something supposed to spark a quote within this post?
I believe you're referring to:
"When it comes to pain and suffering, she's right up there with Elizabeth Taylor." -Truvy Jones (Steel Magnolias)

My dad has congestive heart failure. It's a chronically deteriorating condition for which there is no cure, only maintenance and extension of life. He's lived with it for over 10 years now (he's 81) and has an implanted pacemaker/defibrillator that keeps things going.
For younger people a heart transplant might be considered, but not for old folks like Dad & Elizabeth T.
Because of the weakened heart any respiratory problem can become an issue. My dad has to take water pills every day to keep fluid out of his lungs. He feels the difference in his ability to breathe if he doesn't.

I was just thinking about her the other day. One of the grandest dames I've ever encountered.
When asked what she's most proud of in her screen legacy, she said that her biggest pride was getting to be the first woman to say "F*CK" in a mainstream film.
She has her priorities straight.

"she said that her biggest pride was getting to be the first woman to say "F*CK" in a mainstream film."
Which film was it?
LOL I really do adore Elizabeth Taylor. I've been fascinated with her life and career for years.
I'll actually be quite devistated when she actually does die, and I don't even know her personally.

Me too. I love that woman. I think that in her prime, she was the most beautiful woman on earth and that was without "work."
I also don't think she's such a terrible actress. And I love her for all her work with AIDS research.

I enjoy Debbie as well. But I was all about Elizabeth first, so I don't take it back. I'm definitely Team Liz.
I'm glad they were able to work past the retardedness that was Eddie Fischer.
I love how I talk about it like it's 1960. haha I'm only 26. I wasn't even around during those times.
She was certainly the most beautiful woman of the golden age of Hollywood.

Dang, she is harder to kill than Rasputin!
God love her.

I was around in the 60's and (being a devoted fan of 'movie magazines') I couldn't get enough of all the latest Liz-Eddie-Debbie dirt. Debbie was the sweet golden girl who could do no wrong while Liz was the evil mankiller. Eddie was a mere pawn in the game with no will of his own.
And yet - despite all this - I still wanted to be Liz and never Debbie. Here was this little kid in peddle pushers, Tshirts and Keds, thinking that if I combed my hair a certain way or walked in a certain style, then maybe someone would think that I was at least related to her.
(Of course I also CONSUMED comic books and knew for a fact that Liz was Veronica while Debbie was Betty. I never thought Eddie was Archie though. He seemed more of a Jughead.)
A click for life.

And isn't it funny how history repeats itself.
Elizabeth = Angelina
Debbie = Jennifer
Eddie = Brad (though Brad is clearly much prettier) lol

Posted: 8/1/08 at 12:07pmYes - Like TheatreBaby said, they both got over the nonsense. Just like almost everyone else - Liz was never that evil and Debbie was never that good. They were just subjects of their publicity.
A click for life.

Though wasn't it fun to see them poke fun at themselves in "These Old Broads"
Terrible movie, but so great for fans of them and that era such as myself. :)

I was somewhat joking. I have nothing against Liz. Their personal lives are their personal lives.
It's just that I watched Singin' In the Rain last week and I'm on a Debbie high. :)
