Every year our county does this cool "High School Theater Awards" thing at this local theater.

We film our performances and then the numbers are sent to broadway directors to judge. Awards given out are like "Best Dance Number" and "Best Female Actress in a Musical", etc.

Then the thespians/schools with the highest scores win the awards.

Also, throughout the night every highschool does a number from their musical (which is nice because sometimes our shows are the same weekends as other schools).

It usually a pretty big night, and everyone dresses as if they were going to the Tony's.

Does anyone else participate in a similar thing near them?

I know that the 5th Avenue in Seattle does that... for all the high schools in the area. Pretty prestigious, except that the same couple of high schools get nominated every year.

Yeah, Central Florida also has Cappies. It's a huge deal here. But this year my school is not participating in Cappies for some reason :[

Yeah, Ive gone to the 5th Avenue Theater awards twice. It was really exciting, like the tony's. We had a couple nominations, but didn't win.

ohh, Cappies...or as I like to call them, Crappies. Yea, not so much a fan, and the four hour training session they put me through where they said two million times to judge shows based on "how hard people tried" didn't help their cause much. Oh well, it's all good fun I suppose. I like seeing free shows.

Ours are called "The Rosies" because of something about how our city is named from War of Roses (York vs. Lancaster).

In the Houston Area we have the Tommy Tune's. It's really swanky. Our school hasn't won a Tommy yet, but we've been nominated several times. (keep in minnd, this is our third year of existance.)

In New Jersey there are the Paper Mill Rising Stars for the whole state and also Warren County along with some counties in Penn. do the Freddies. They are all cute.
