Returning to the topic of the thread (before the OP has a dizzy spell), I actually think this CONSTANT election cycle is a large part of the problem. Political discourse that actually solves issues is non existent. The next election is THREE YEARS AWAY. Who can help us NOW?

I just reported it on the tech support thread.

Sutton Ross said: "This is America and not your messy asshead we're all living in, so 100% correct. I'm glad you finally understand who Americans actually vote for in a Presidential election."

Are you suggesting that - assuming that only white, hetero, cis men over 50 can be president - the heads that are messed up are the critics of that limitation, rather than the bigots who perpetuate it?

"If you weren't so busy trashing Sutton Ross, you might have had time to give us YOUR suggestions and political opinions.
ENOUGH  WITH  THE  TROLLING  !!

You are such a hypocrite. Telling posters to stop trashing the same poster you trashed - lmao. See below of your post in another thread in "Yet Another Scary Fan Foolery"

"I won't  recount her many filthy attacks and accusations against me.  They are part of the BWW record."

"But, I did learn that if I responded to her craziness with just one word, it seemed to send her into a frenzy and she would move on to her next target.  At least temporarily.  The word:  NAH."

"So wherever and whatever and whoever you are, Sutton Ross:   NAH."

Very interesting, Zeppie. Thank you for that refresher.

To think that only about a week ago I said that the board was starting to see Sutton’s true colors, and the tide was turning against her… and Highland Guy ACTUALLY REPORTED ME TO THE MODS for making "false statements".

Anyhoo, I'm not trying to score points against HG here, just trying to demonstrate to him that just maybe I am NOT the monster he thinks I am.

Back to the topic at hand. :)

I hope a viable third party can be formed in the next couple of years. At one stage, I woulda been satisfied with a reformed Dem party but that time has now passed. They've messed it up too many times, to the detriment of the greater good.

Perhaps "the Squad" can break free.

We just need a name. The Progressives? The Peace Party? The Social Justice Warriors?

Republicans are RED, Democrats BLUE, and this new party can claim WHITE.

Far be it for me to suggest people but for the fun of it.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer - was considered VP material and being Governor is nice on POTUS nominee resume.

Mayor Pete - Served in Biden administration, name recognition and Democrats love identity politics.

Senator Chris Murphy - my "darkhorse" pick. Young (52) Senator from Connecticut and big time Trump critic. He is on the NY Times list of ones to watch in 2028.

The GOP is the White Supremacy Party. Talk about identity politics.

For Buttigieg to have a chance, he’ll have to dial down the gay even further than he already has. He's already at pass-as-hetero levels, and STILL Kamala snubbed him.

I think Kamala + Pete is a very different identity proposition for the electorate than say Whitmer + Pete would be.

Assuming we have elections in 2028 the very worst thing the Democrats could do is run a centrist candidate.

Income inequality is at an all time high. Worse that in it was in the 20's. For the first time in Americna history this generation id doing WORSE than the generation that preceeded. it. This is how we ended up with an felon, rapist, reality tv star in the White House.

It's why we have seen mini revolutions like Me Too and Black Lives Matter. We are at a breaking point. The status quo is unsustainable.

If Democrats play it safe they are bound to keep losing.

Why you care about his opinion is beyond me, your decision. My post (#2Looking Ahead (WAY Ahead) proved he is a hypocrite and glad to point it out. There are other examples, this is just the most recent. HG surely loves to report people; he is the reason I got suspended once. Wonder if we will ever find out if SR ever read what he said about her lol. Once again see post #28.

This does get at one of the key tensions in the party I think.  A party can't govern at all if it doesn't get elected, and some of the positions the farthest left progressives want to use as a purity test for candidates don't poll well with the majority of voters.

Adopting an "all or nothing" stance has hardly ever worked in a national election.

Run as a centrist or left of center, score some immediately policy gains with mass appeal, and then move farther left as conditions allow.

We've seen this administration do basically the same thing in the extreme: deny Project 2025 during the campaign and then immediately start enacting it once elected.

Tough to have momentum when you have lost the last three elections. (President, Governor, Senator)

Under normal circumstance I would agree with you. We are not under normal circumstances. You just descrived the Kamala Harris canpaign.

You may be right, but the fact that Harris could not pull off that strategy doesn't necessarily mean someone else couldn't.  She was a flawed candidate saddled with Biden's poor choices and running under very tenuous circumstances.

But what do you suggest as a winning alternative.  Polling and current conditions do not seem to suggest anyone going farther left of center can pull in the required electoral votes.
