Posted: 12/22/05 at 11:45amSubway service will take anywhere from 16 - 48 hours from the time they decide to go back to work. Nothing to be celebrating yet.

The agreement worked on last night provides for workers to return later today.
The AP is now reporting:
Striking transit workers agreed to take steps to go back to work while their union and the transit authority resume negotiations, a state mediator said Thursday morning.
No timetable was announced for the restoration of bus and subway service, which was halted Tuesday, affecting millions of riders.

Posted: 12/22/05 at 12:02pmThis is only while they continue to negotiate. If Toussaint gets mad again, the workers could walk off again.

Posted: 12/22/05 at 12:04pmI just heard on NBC that it's going to take anywhere from 16 to 24 to 48 hours to make sure everything is safe before subways and buses can pick up passengers. Although I would imagine buses are much easier to get up and running than the subways. So they approximated maybe things will be running for the morning rush, but not for today.

That must be why Jerby is sad.
The news just said most subway service will be functioning at some ind of level by tomorrow. Does this mean the taxi gauching stops?

From the TWU website:
---
STRIKE OVER: REPORT TO WORK
When: If your tour has started, report immediately. If not, at your scheduled report time. If you are RDO, on your next scheduled shift.
If you can’t report to your location, report to the nearest location as if it was a snow emergency. Then contact your field office. After that, call your Union Rep or Chair.
If Management gives you any problem, call your Union Rep or Chair.
Hold your head high when you report to work.

"In the face of an unprecedented media assault, the average New Yorker supported the TWU and blamed the MTA for the strike. Our riders knew we did not abandon them, and they did not abandon us. Public support from unions, communities, clergy and elected officials helped create the atmosphere for an end to the strike."
What the F*CK kind of crack was THAT bitch smoking? The average New Yorker wants to string you bitches up by your damn nutsacks, you c-u-next-tuesdays!

Toussant was chowing down at a fancy Harlem restaurant last night while his workers manned picket lines
Now he is sitting down to a rather large order of crow
Re restrooms, you have to be VERY desparate to use one of the few public toilets

Strike is over just in time for the first strike related lawsuit:

(restaurant suing TWU, MTA, and the city over lost earnings)

Listening on the news to interviews with those on the TWU board who voted against calling off the strike was downright scary. Two of them basically said they had the city on its knees & needed to continue to squeeze harder.
I hate to say it but we have not seen the end of this & something else will happen in the future be it another strike or slowdown. These guys actually believe they have it so bad that it is worth destroying a city & its people to get what they want

I could be wrong but in the last week I saw 2 bus shelters vandalized with the glass partitions smashed. The last one was today by my subway stop. It was OK this morning & this apparently happened in broad daylight. I have not seen any vandalized in the past 5 years or more & now 2 back to back. I am not a big believer in coincidences. Some TWU members maybe venting their alledged frustration on the shelters
Stay tuned
