This city doesn't deal well, does she? SHEESH!! Streets are so flooded!

I still love the sound of it on the window though, when I'm cozy indoors.... makes me feel so lucky no matter how unlucky my day was.

Stay dry, y'all! :)

I had to walk back to my car after my shift at Disneyland in the driving, pouring, unbelievable rain last night. (I wasn't prepared, as I was supposed to get off work earlier in the day, and ended up extending into the night.) It was about a half-mile walk. With no umbrella. Wearing a wool jacket which got soaked through very quickly. Not fun.

At least I had a baseball cap... Even though that got soaked through, too, it at least protected my head a bit!

Everything I was wearing last night was still damp this morning.

Sheesh!

I totally bought an umbrella today just to avoid that.

Ay! So sorry... and you just got over a cold too, no?

Yep...rainy day schedule today at school...yuck! I love getting my 25 minute break for the whole day! My fifth graders were well behaved, so it wasn't so bad.

I get to drive to Big Bear tomorrow afternoon....wish me luck! I know it will be beautiful once I'm up there.

Popular: Yes, actually I'm still sick, but I'm finally noticing some improvement, which is good...or at least, I was until last night's debacle!

The drive down to OC yesterday was nasty. I'm glad I can stay in for the next few days!

I hope there aren't any mud slides.

It's true, Popular - tornado warning in Los Angeles County until 9:45 (at this point.)

The TinMan - who has speant every one of his 57 years here - has NEVER seen that before. VERY weird!

It was scrolling across the screen on ABC. I checked it out on Yahoo, too. First, it was a tornado warning for Malibu and Pacific Palisades, then the weather system they're concerned about moved down to Long Beach, but now the warning's back for up here. Here's the current warning:

LOS ANGELES CA-
903 PM PST THU JAN 24 2008

...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM PST FOR
SOUTHWEST LOS ANGELES COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA INCLUDING
THE CITIES OF MALIBU...PACIFIC PALISADES AND TOPANGA...

AT 900 PM PST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO INDICATE VERY STRONG ROTATING THUNDERSTORM. IT WAS LOCATED OVER THE EASTERN HALF OF MALIBU AND WAS MOVING NORTH NORTHEAST AT
20 MPH. CITIES THAT WILL BE IMPACTED BY THE CELL INCLUDE
MALIBU...PACIFIC PALISADES AND TOPANGA.

IF IN MOBILE HOMES OR VEHICLES...EVACUATE THEM AND GET INSIDE A
SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER. IF NO SHELTER IS AVAILABLE...LIE FLAT IN THE
NEAREST DITCH OR OTHER LOW SPOT AND COVER YOUR HEAD WITH YOUR HANDS.

Amazing, isn't it? The other night Downey had a tornado watch.

Oh, wait a minute.......I'm so sorry. There's no such thing as global warming...I keep forgetting. Ha, ha.

It's been pouring rain in Hollywood here all night. Nonstop.

And it's still pouring now. That's some serious weather for L.A.

While I would like to feel sympathy for you LAers, on this 3 degree morning in Chicago, I just can't do it. :)

Don't bother. We need the rain anyway.

But we sure don't need the "tornado warnings" in Malibu. Sheesh!

There was a waterspout that touched land and took off a roof of a building, but I didn't catch where it was. It's been raining here (about halfway between LA and Elphaba) all night long, as well. It seems to have let up at the moment, though.

Edit (from the LA Times):
"At least one waterspout from the Pacific made landfall Thursday night, the National Weather Service said. The tornado tore the roof off of a building at Naval Base Ventura County in Point Mugu, meteorologist Curt Kaplan said."

we had a few sprinkles a few minutes ago, and the clouds coming over the mountains seem to be parting, but they are predicting 3 days of rain here starting tomorrow, AND......I have to be up in the Bay Area on business Sunday through Wedns, and expecting rain every day except for Tuesday.....ugh

Wow. My thoughts are with you guys. LA is not built for tornadoes.

I'm sure everyone is losing their mind with the "STORM WATCH" news coverage and everyone suddenly forgetting how to function in society.

That's one aspect of LA that I don't miss.

I have to go to Santa Monica again this morning, and I dread to think what the idiots have created on the highways re: Los Angeles, can we talk about this rain!?!

And Patronus - but LA misses YOU! re: Los Angeles, can we talk about this rain!?!

Elph - it's dumping so much before it gets to the desert, that there's just not that much left by the time it gets to you. They're saying that many places have gotten more rain in the last 24 hours than they did over the last 12 months combined!

Exactly. We get an eighth of an inch of rain out here and they interrupt television and radio programming with "emergency bulletins."

You can imagine how "Chicken Little-esque" they are right now about all of this.
