That's another thing. To the locals, it's going to the beach or boardwalk. To the Northerner's, it's going "down the shore".

I still have yet to see this show but have heard plenty about it. I am mid-20's and live in northern NJ, but when I was 16-17-18, i spent every weekend we could down at Seaside. I had a hotel room there for prom weekend, etc. It's just what you did. But back then it wasn't completely "guido'd out" unless you went to Sand Bar, lol. However, as i tried to visit as the years passed, yes, it is pretty scary. We had a shore house one summer when i was 19 in Belmar, and well, never again.
But this isn't just in Seaside. Go to Bliss (formerlly known as Joeys or Yakety Yak before that) in Clifton, new club Mavi in Fairfield, Lounge 46 in Totowa, 75% of the "clubs" in Hoboken, etc etc etc in North Jersey and it is the SAME exact thing as what they are trying to portray on this show.

I have not watched this show, but I do know a lot of people who are mad about it. I even think I read somewhere that people are sending death threats to MTV executives over it. That's too extreme.

Re: shoobies. We always thought they were called shoobies because the people that actually lived at the shore in the summer would walk barefoot to the beach, but the people who drove down for the day would come onto the beach in shoes.
That being said, as horrible as this show is....I am completely addicted to it. You can not imagine the skankification until you actually watch it. And every person on the show thinks they are the hottest thing that has ever walked the earth. Poor, deluded souls....I should really start watching PBS though. I'm sure I've long surpassed the age limit for MTV.

Haha! But it is really true. Oh no. Should I worry though because he's wearing Armani sunglasses and I have a pair of regular glasses of that brand? They didn't cost $500 though. My mom definitely would have said no to that.

Well, I saw where he was showing his six-pack abs and he said they were "the situation" and that all the ladies loved "the situation". I'm still not really clear on the whole concept. I just know that it cracks me up.
