I hope this movie lives up to its promise as far as the male flesh is concerned!

This is beyond gay. But from what I hear it's actually a very fun movie. I realize no straight man will ever see this, but it's all done very....um...tongue in cheek.
I can see this being a hit though. If it becomes that movie that groups of women and gay guys go to see as a night out (sort of a proxy for the real thing) it could draw huge numbers to an under served segment amongst all the blockbusters.

I love that Channing has been able to turn this into something good for his career.
I remember a time when a past like this would have been hidden in shame, and never mentioned.

These terms are not mutually exclusive.

I was a lot more excited for this movie until I heard some initial reports. I originally thought this had the potential to be a gay(er) Showgirls, but it ultimately will be more of a conventional romantic comedy.
The movie is certainly being marketed to the gay community and I'm sure the studio is counting on us to show up in droves, but the joke will be on us that there is not much in film to hold our attention (other than a shirtless Channing, which can be found in all his movies anyway).
None of the actors are portraying gay, bi or gay for pay characters- they are all dancing solely to make money and get all the **** they can. There will most likely end up being just as much tit and ass on screen as there is shirtless Channing. Also sadly Matt Bomer seems to have barely any role.
If they are going expect our attendance and money they could at least throw us a tidbit. Would it be so difficult to give Bomer or Pettyfer some gay boyfriend who wants him out or their relationship is over? Why should they expect a gay audience when they don't want to give anything in return?

Posted: 5/28/12 at 5:31amI'll wait for this one to hit cable. I'm not in a rush to go see this in a movie theater. I only pay to go see a film in the theater if it's an "event" film, one I feel must be seen in a movie theater to fully appreciate it. MAGIC MIKE doesn't meet that criteria.
