re: Man Shoots MovieGoer For Being Too Loud

The guy that was shot is from my home town! I just placed a few calls to see if it was anyone I knew or know.

Yeah, as much as I hate it when some obnoxious mouthpiece if going off on some rant during the BEST PART OF THE MOVIE, getting shot in front of your young son is a pretty effing unfair punishment.

Psychos these days.

re: Man Shoots MovieGoer For Being Too Loud

I have seen 5 year olds in movie theaters who act more mature than most teenagers and adults do! I mean can people not get it through their thick heads when they tell you to turn off all cell phones and not talk? I hope not to sound rude, but I'm surprised this has not happened more often. This is why I usually go to an early matinee showing, to avoid the f***heads who think the world revolves around them.

I quit going to the movie because of people talking. It's just not worth it. Most movies are trash anyway.

Only two cell phones went off when I saw Button last night.
But I left my guns and knives at home.

The man that was shot was Woffard Lomax according to a few news reports. I knew his family.

My favorite part of this whole ordeal is that the man who shot him just sat back down and went back to watching the movie as if nothing had happened. THAT I find hilarious.

I have it at least 10 times a day, and not in a movie theater.

I have never understood anyone talking in a theater. The whole idea is to be quiet so you know what's going on. If you must take a child to a movie and you haven't taught them simple theater ettiquite then take them to a drive in. I agree that shooting the guy was ridiculous but after the victim sues the theater perhaps they will be forced to put a huge message across the screen.......ANYONE TALKING DURING THE MOVIE WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE. There is absolutely no excuse for talking during a movie.
I may not know a lot about theater but I know that I love it.

On the one hand, shooting someone is NO laughing matter and I can't tell you how much I appreciate living in a country where there isn't a gun in every bureau drawer "just in case".

On the other hand, BRAVO. I often say "no jury in the land would convict"; let's see if my belief is true.

Yeah, I'm of the mixed mind where I know it's wrong that he was shot and obviously the person was mentally unstable. That being said, I almost wish this would make people go to the movies with a little bit of fear. Whatever it takes to get people to shut the hell up for the few hours or less (usually substantially less) of film they are paying to share.

And really, he only shot him in the arm. It's a small price to pay to learn the lesson that "silence is golden" in a movie theater.

I can't say I feel bad about this. You can hardly go to the movies anymore without some a-holes talking.

I'm going to push for all Broadway ushers to be armed with Uzis. Let's see if that little teenaged twerp at Spring Awakening gives me attitude next time I tell her to turn her phone off.
