Saw the film today and loved it!! Loved Sophia Coppola style for the film.
I have studied Marie for years! Read almost every book I could get on her and believe it or not this film is the closest thing to what she was really like. I wish they had shown her later in life. She really turned herself around and showed amazing courage right up until her death.
Marie was so lonely when she arrived at versailles. She subsituted her lack of love with pure decadence. The film showed that. It was not until she had children that she calmed down.

Do they mention how her real name was Maria Antonia Josefa Johanna von Habsburg-Lothringen? (Quite a mouthful!)

I just saw it and loved it. Normally I despise Dunst, but her and her snaggletoothed face pulled off a stunning performance, along with everyone else in the cast.
And if this movie doesn't win an Oscar for Costumes...I will be outraged.
