Yep, that was me who mentioned the "mod status" rumor. My guess as to whether that was ever on the table is as good as anyone else's, but I can tell you for a fact that M_E told this to me in PM (and Rob and Craig can go into my account to verify it was said).
I'm going to reserve judgment on his truthfulness because he's been nothing but nice to me, but then again, on 4/27, he also told me he was going to use his Mozilla Firefox to put this site on block right this minute so he could never come back ever again - even if he wanted to - yet lo and behold, I found out he still frequented this place as of 4/30, mere days after I left on my trip. Curious.
It was also said on that thread that M_E left because a mod accused him of being a child predator, so apparently I'm missing something here. I'm sure he lurks, so I hope he takes this opportunity to tell us the truth and what's really going on, either here or via PM, if he so cares to. (Which he may not.)

I loved M-E, but had little or no contact outside the public bards. I love that he asked those OLD questions and the way he'd post the lyric to a song when the ooportunity presented itself.
I also visualize the posters as their nicknames and or icons, so to me Mary-Ethel is a 60-something woman, wearing her housecoat as she plays old LPs of "Golden Era" cast albums on the giant console stereo. I imagine that her gay grandsons taught her to use a computer and she posted from an old Radio Shack PC with a thermos full of orange-ade at her side! Come back soon, old girl!

So who's PB ENT and why does he need to PM me saying "You have no idea who Mary-Ethel is" and launching into some long tirade about "him/her" and how abused "He/she" was.

I got one of those once. I had written a loving parody of PB's writing style, (I had to be paying close attention to do such a good job) and man oh man did that cheese her off. Lots of protestations about having a life and working in this business and only checking in for business reasons on this site once in a while anymore because the baboons and the hyenas were running the insane chicken coop now or some other mixed metaphors. Also, seems to be in charge of filling people in on the whereabouts and "having a life"s of disgruntled former posters.

The thing is, I love Pati. And I think it's great that she has organized this sort of union of disgruntled ex-BWWers. And that she keeps in touch with them and can fill people in that they are alive and well and very happy in their decisions to not post here anymore. It's important, I think, for even busy people to have hobbies, and helping to keep that group together so that they can be there for each other is Pati's.
And I support her. Always have. I won't have a single bad word said about her.
I'm pretty sure she keeps a running list of who the "bad guys" are in any flame wars. I'm pretty sure you'll have officially gone over to the bad side, Joe, now that you've gone public with the PMs. Because P is for Pati. And Private.
