What I simply
do not understand Rath, is why you always fall back on that point. Did you never take literature courses in college or something? WHAT is so hard to understand about reading somebody's posts, or lots of people's posts, and seeing the generative themes that come up over time?
It's not diagnostic, it's reading and staying alert to the subtext that comes through over time. It's not possible to get a grasp of these things about a person in a single post, but I think you're having a hard time seeing that a prolific poster such as yourself DOES reveal a lot over time.
If you don't think it's possible over a period of many months to get a general sense of where a poster is coming from by the many responses they have to all sorts of topics, fine. But it
is possible to do that.
Just reading the many many times you have rushed to the defense of pre-packaged lip-synching pop stars no matter how talentless and watching you criticize people who write negatively of them because it's "not nice" and they're "just kids" and juxtaposing the positively vicious things you have written about Betty Buckley, to site one obvious example, is just straight out of the compare and contrast handbook. And says a hell of a lot about you.
I know you got all bent out of shape when I suggested that fundamentally you have a very conservative political response to a host of issues, which you have definitely demonstrated over time (remember the "this place is so tilted in the OTHER direction" diatribe?). You then always fall back on this "we" and "us" thing when I point this stuff out. "We are so grateful to your insight to all of us." As if broadening out what you reveal about yourself and what I comment upon to the whole rest of the board is even what I have done. I'm just talking about YOU Rath, not everybody.
I explain this, and then you respond, almost inevitably, with some comment about how there aren't huge numbers of people who agree with I say and there are more who are sick of me and I think, "Who ever said I want huge numbers of people who agree with me?" I just want smart people with the ability to analyze and think clearly and who attempt to articulate creatively to agree with me. Which is I think where things break down between you and me.
For the record, for once and for all. I do NOT think I am better than anybody. I do not write so that large numbers of people will agree with me. I write to express thoughts *I* have. I do not set myself up as an expert, this is just a construct YOU bring up to shut me down again and again. I just write what I think. I am not bitter, angry or jaded.
I have never said I know everything. Never.

I never said that either. Anybody looking to get insight into your personality, such as it is, need look no further than you projecting that crap all over me. THAT, Rath, is all YOUR fantasy.
