This is perhaps totally random, but I've been watching her in various movies and TV shows lately, and I have to say ... I completely adore her.
She's a terrific actress, yes. But there's a quality about her that just invites me in to whatever story she's helping to tell.
Big fan here.

She's incredible. She was a real formidable screen presence in the 90s and then she kind of disappeared. She's one of the best actresses working today. It's a shame shes not in more films.
Id love to see her on stage.

Posted: 2/12/12 at 7:52amI'm very, very happy to stumble upon this thread. Mary McDonnell is one of my favourite actresses ever, and vastly under-used and under-appreciated. We should find a way of letting her know... Even so, I go out of my way to see things that she's in.

Her best sparring is done with Kyra Sedgwick on the The Closer. She is a wonderful addition to the cast and the only one who can make the audience fear she could actually thwart Sedgwick's investigations.
She basically has a cameo appearance in Margin Call, but honestly I felt she developed as much a character in 4 minutes as everyone else did the whole movie.
It looks like she did some Broadway in the 90s, but I would love for her to make a return trip to the stage.

Posted: 2/12/12 at 1:15pmShe did a lot of theater in New York before making it big with DANCES, including the original production of BURIED CHILD. I know she's done some theater in LA, but I was always surprised she never came back to do more in New York.

Posted: 2/13/12 at 11:28amI'm always impressed with her work (including the short-lived AbFab rip-off High Society with Jean Smart) and her character on The Closer is some of her best television work. Subtle, but brilliant.
