Namo -- I certainly wouldn't believe most of the early reports, they just repeat things that are murmered as if it is fact. Then they just pretend they never said it.

I'm trying desperately to only watch the news about 1/2 hour at a time.

As far as NJ, they have now said they thought he was going to NJ, CT or NY. People like to get worked up over very little.

So far there have two notices of car/license plates that were both recalled withing a short period of time saying: We know where that vehichle is. Never mind.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

As I said earlier my mom is begging my brother to come home but he's staying put. I told him that I won't pressure him and talk him into anything but if things take a turn for the worse he should consider cancelling his gig and coming down.

Yes, he's in Weehawken. He said he's less than six blocks away.

In his shoes I'd leave even if it wasn't a "danger". The police presence would make me antsy.

I'm sure he is. With that much police/reporter presence I would have to imagine the kid would find somewhere else to go. It's still an upsetting situation though.

The attached story perplexes me. I feel bad for the guy, but someone drops a bag at your feet and you just stay there??? According to the story (through his brother), the bomb went off a couple of minutes after the bag was left.

Eris ...where in Weehawken is your brother? I'm in Weehawken too .. on the waterfront near the Lincoln Tunnel, but there's nothing unusual going on here, no helicopters, no police presence, and we certainly are not on lockdown.

He's on Fulton Street. "Lockdown" is a word my mom used and she may be exaggerating a bit. But my brother did say that residents in his area have to be escorted in and out of the barricaded area by police.

I find that (along with just about everything else we're hearing) suspect. Did he ID them independent of any information he might have heard or seen from his hospital bed? I'm not suggesting conspiracy theories. I'm certainly not saying these guys were set up, but there's a lot of misinformation and hysteria out there - like saying a place is in "lockdown" when it isn't.

I really think people need to calm down a little. There's trouble enough out there without looking for it. Namo, I get. He's right in the heart of it - but people freaking out states away isn't helpful to anyone. We can't live our lives in constant fear.

^ I agree there. The only reason I believe the 1 area of NJ has any action is because the suspect has a sister there. Besides that, I don't think there would be anything, unless they knew for sure that he was heading there.
