My favorite part of the article is that Susan Boyle passed on the chance to play herself. Why would an "A" list actress want to play Susan Boyle if Susan Boyle doesn't even want to play Susan Boyle?

I think that there is a wonderful story here-the village 'spinster' who sings in the local pub,disfunctional family[I don't know the story] then the amazing response on X Factor[but that would have to be re-created with the same judges and done exactly the same way as a hundred million have already seen that] and all that followed--the ups and downs--it has all been rather dramatic.There is an audience that likes her,same as Andre Rieu-not everyones' taste,but never the less-an audience.Anyone who does it would have to lipsync.

If I were writing this movie, I would end it before she even auditions, since we already know how it ends. The drama of the audition process could be fun to explore, but we know she wins. There's no drama in that.

That's just me.

Which other thread is that, PJ? And I'm not misogynistic. I don't hate women. Me making an (admittedly) bad joke about Julia Child doesn't make me hate women.

When I read this I wasn't surprised at all. If you haven't seen the documentary about Susan Boyle maybe you should take a look. Her life isn't exactly one note, she struggles from a learning disability and was literally plucked from obscurity into instant-stardom after losing her dearest mother. This film is based on a musical which received rave reviews it was compared to Blood Brothers.

Susan just didn't become "famous" and start living in a palace and commanding caviare. What happened to her is sort of a milestone in the internet fame zeitgeist. Her "learning disabilities," extreme talent, instant fame are ripe for a compelling character study. Many suspect Susan is on the Asperger spectrum. She is very high functioning, but the lights and the pressure, emptiness of show business haunt the woman.

I know a lot of people look at her like this Kelly Clarkson or even Snooki, but she isn't.

Streep played an old rabbi in the Angels in America miniseries, in which she also portrayed Ethel Rosenberg and Joe Pitt's mom. She won the Emmy for it.
