Congrats Mr. Matt! ::runs around hanging colorful paper chains in your honor::
So if you had to describe yourself as a color, what color would you be and why?
Oh how fun! I always knew fame would find me someday. I guess I was hiding really well.
"1) What inspires you?
2) If you could spend the day with 1 person (dead or alive)who would it be and what would you talk about?
3) If you were putting together a scrapbook of your life, what would be included in it?"
1) The nature of humanity. Whether they are acts of kindness and selflessness or cruelty, I am always inspired to act and/or respond whether directly to the situation or indirectly in the way I live my life.
2) Jesus. I want to know the real story. And to diss Pat Robertson.
3) Orange Converse high tops, my senior high school yearbook, Star Wars action figures, Zots, the cello part to the fourth movement of the Sibelius Symphony No. 2, and the Micronauts Battle Cruiser. I have no idea how I would press them between the pages, but I would find a way.
"what are your favorite Chicago restaurants? What about night spots?"
Restaurants:
Coco Pazzo Cafe
Grand Lux Cafe
Brunch at Puck's in the Museum of Contemporary Art
Uncle Julio's Hacienda
Night Spots:
Gentry on State Street
Sidetrack
Howl at the Moon
"1, Favorite cookie
2, Hero as child
3, Favorite book as a child
4, Way to spend a rainy Saturday"
1) Girl Scouts Thin Mints
2) As a child, it was Luke Skywalker. When I grew up, it became my dad.
3) It's a tie between The Phantom Tollbooth and Alan Mendelson, The Boy From Mars
4) Watching a movie on the couch with Jarico, eating paninis.
"What is your most anticipated theatrical event happening in Chicago?"
That would have to be The Pirate Queen. I already have my tickets. Les Miserables was the show that started my musical theatre obsession, so I'm a die-hard Boublil and Schoenberg fan. I'm also looking forward to seeing The Pillowman again.
"So if you had to describe yourself as a color, what color would you be and why?"
I would be orange because though most everyone likes me, very few would want me around all the time.
You're here! Question time!
If you were a pair of shoes, what shoes would you be and why?
If you could have anyone over for dinner, who would it be and what would you serve them?
If we went out with you and your best friend, what story would he/she tell us about you that you wouldn't have told us yourself?
And now my myspace rip-off questions:
What goal would you like to achieve this year?
Your weakness?
Your biggest fear?
First thought waking up?
Do you shower daily?
Have you been in love?
Do you get along with your parents?
Coffee or Tea?
Cats or Dogs?
"If you were a pair of shoes, what shoes would you be and why?"
Keens - They seem very odd when you look at them, but they are very comfortable.
"If you could have anyone over for dinner, who would it be and what would you serve them?"
Ann Coulter - Drano Cream Pie.
"If we went out with you and your best friend, what story would he/she tell us about you that you wouldn't have told us yourself?"
That's a tough one. We go waaaaaaay back and the only stories I wouldn't tell myself are those that I can't remember. Another friend would probably talk about how we paid $20 to dance provocatively on the stage at Howl at the Moon to Darling Nicki.
"What goal would you like to achieve this year?"
The year is almost up. Not dying would be nice. Besides that, we're trying to make it to Times Square for New Year's Eve. A promotion is a remote possibility as well.
"Your weakness?"
Good food.
"Your biggest fear?"
Slow, painful death.
"First thought waking up?"
Yay! I can use my Tassimo!
"Do you shower daily?"
Yes.
"Have you been in love?"
I am now.
"Do you get along with your parents?"
Fabulously.
"Coffee or Tea?"
Coffee.
"Cats or Dogs?"
Dogs. I like cats, but I'm terribly allergic.

Yay for Mr. Matt!
What's your Starbucks or preferred coffee shop order?
What's your favorite ice cream?
"If you could have anyone over for dinner, who would it be and what would you serve them?"
Ann Coulter - Drano Cream Pie.
Note to self - stay on Mr. Matt's good side.
"What's your Starbucks or preferred coffee shop order?"
I like the S'Mores thingie at Carabou Coffee.
"What's your favorite ice cream?"
Australian Ice Cream - Banana
Cold Stone Creamery - Cheesecake ice cream with frozen strawberries
Yay, Mr. Matt. Yay!
What is your absolute favorite type of cheese?
"What is your absolute favorite type of cheese?"
There was this incredible dessert cheese I had in Oporto and I have no idea what it was, but I think it is like a Camembere. Here in the States, I love a good Provolone. I'm into the mild creamy cheeses.
Congrats! If I ask you who is Mister Matt, what would you answer?

Yay, Matt!
What qualities that your parents possess would you like to see emulated in others?
"If I ask you who is Mister Matt, what would you answer?"
He's the life of the party who is rarely invited.
"What qualities that your parents possess would you like to see emulated in others?"
Generosity, charity, forgiveness, congeniality, and a great sense of humor. They'll invite anyone over for a home-cooked meal, a bottle of wine, and friendly conversation. Though they are not church-goin' folk, they are more Christ-like than most Christians I have encountered. And they are totally goofy and weird. I've never met anyone who didn't fall in love with them.

It's about time this trashbag floated to the top of the slag heap. I'll never understand how such goodly parents sired such a no-account, but I cling to the belief that the dormant goodness genes that lay inside Mr. Matt will one day be unleashed.
You're living proof that the position of My Mortal Enemy is never a lifetime title. Except in two cases.
Matt, I will call you the next time Im in the city and Im coming over! =)
Oh, I'm still hanging on to the title, Namo. Like all great super villains, I'm just biding my time. One day, you will once again taste my wrath. And just when you think you had forgotten the unique distinction that sets apart my unimaginable fury from all that is real or unknown...
...it tastes like chicken!
I'm watching you, Señor Meanie Pants...
muscle23ftl - You're on!
Which reminds me, I didn't hear from Iflit the last time she was in town. Hmmmmm.....
Congrats, Mr. Matt! Enjoy your day and Labor Day weekend!
If you could have a meeting with the major producers of Broadway shows - Shuberts, Weisslers, Nederlanders, Disney group... - what changes would you ask them to make in order to improve the Broadway theatre going experience for the public?
(You can apply this to theatre in Chicago, also, if you'd like).

Unite with the theatres and take a stand on the position of audience behavior. Set an age limit for children allowed in the theatres. Ushers should be more closely supervised to assist when audience members are disuptive. I would also ask them to please put more thought into stunt casting. Boosting sales is understandable, but geez, some of the choices are idiotic. As far as Broadway is concerned, I think it is in good shape. Financially, it is doing well. Producers are still taking risks and a variety of shows are being produced. Jukebox musicals are a trend. They existed before Mamma Mia and they will exist after, but producers are learning that in order for them to be successful, they have to work just as hard at writing and staging them as with an original musical, if not more. In the end, as always, the audience will decide what they want to see.
Did you see the original cast of Bombay Dreams or the replacement?
Matt!!
congrats!
And... from one Houstonian to another...
What was your favorite aspect of Houston?
"Did you see the original cast of Bombay Dreams or the replacement?"
I saw the original cast and I loved it!
"What was your favorite aspect of Houston?"
Great food and great gay dance bars/clubs. Plus, the tropical climate, while unbearable at times, allowed for amazing plant growth. I loved seeing beautiful plants and flowers year-round. And believe it or not, Houston has a lot of quality theatre. I think it has to do with the fact that Houston is not a "theatre town", so any company that can get an audience and keep them season after season has to be putting on some quality work (and be very talented at marketing).
Not that I would ever move back to Houston, mind you, but I do think it is one of America's most underrated cities.
Spain or France?
