Hi Beacon -- hope you're enjoying the fun.
My question is which of Mr. Wilson's recordings do you listen to most often?
Beacs, besides theater, what other hobbies do you have?

DD: Flower.
Hmm. (My first thought was I'd be the skunk from Bambi...)
I narrowed it down to)
White Carnation (They symbolize eternal life)
White Rose (pure love)
Daisy (fun and frolick)
Black Rose (from Mister Wilson?)

DG:

Gut response: A baseball bat
Seriously: I try to remember not to be a bad example that builds on their misjudgement. And, if I am knowledgeable about the topic I might try to find out why they came to the conclusions they did--not to debate but to understand what influences and information affected their views.
Sometimes I walk away knowing that an argument solves nothing. Other times, if someone is about to be hurt, I will speak up so that they know not everyone shares their offensive view (silence means acceptance.)
As a missionary going door-to-door in Northern California I had quite a few opportunities to experience a lack of tolerance for my faith. Slammed doors, derogatory remarks, obscenity-laced proclamations of God's Will (!?),--even confronted at gunpoint once! The most we could do is be polite and go our way hoping that we had not purposefully given them more fodder for their snit. Lots of things might run through my mind but I had to remember that if I spoke I couldn't take it back. You can't un-ring a bell.
I'm not always able to help myself. I remember hearing one elderly southern woman make an extremely loud anti-semetic remark about a lovely lady sitting near me and my mom. The speaker was very proud of her wit (tho', to their credit, her associates looked very dismayed). I asked my mother who the woman was and the reply was that she was a stalwart member of a local church group. So as we walked by her, I said very loudly... "Gee, I wonder if she realizes that Jesus, himself, was Jewish." Not witty...but I couldn't resist--and her glare was worth it!
Anyone still awake?

Forgive me for being so late to congratulate you, Beacon, but I have been busy fighting homophobia and bigotry on the main board and stupidity in my real life. Merry Beaconmas!

StageDoor2: My question is which of Mr. Wilson's recordings do you listen to most often?
Well...I have a special CD collection I made of different songs he has done. I love his "If I Loved You" from Carousel...but also gotta love "Man" from "The Full Monty". And, of course "All I Ask of You."

Cookie: What type of tea do you enjoy, beacon?
Well, as a Latter-day Saint, I don't drink coffee or non-herbal tea as part of our health code known as the Word of Wisdom.
It directs us to avoid (non-herbal) tea, coffee, alcohol, smoking, illegal drugs or abusing OTC or prescription drugs. We are encouraged to eat right (careful on meat, lots of veggies and grain), exercise, get rest, and take care of ourselves. This is to help us feel better and be able to more clearly feel the influence of the Holy Ghost. And, to be of better service to others.
This health standard often prompts the medical community to use Latter-day Saints as a "Control Group" for various studies on heart health, etc.
As for non-herbal tea. I like Celestial Seasoning Raspberry and Camomile. I've had to drink Ginger and Peppermint lately for my stomach problems.

Addy: beacon, where would you love to go on your next vacation?
Well...since Mister Wilson's house is probably not listed with AAA Tours...I'd pick:
In the US:
A week in Salt Lake City at the main Family History Library. Sounds geeky but to those of us doing genealogy...it is Mecca.
Abroad: Canada (just kidding--but hello to all our nothern neighbors--and I truly love the idea of honeymooning in Nova Scotia!)
Israel (BYU Jerusalem Center tour)
Britain or Continental Europe (genealogy purposes)
Or a cruise in Scandanavia fijords...

Mamie: When the stress and strife of everyday life starts getting to you, what do you do to relax? Be specific - if it's laying back and listening to music, what music?, etc.
I find music to be very soothing. Listening to one of the great composers can really lift my heart. A warm bath can bring great relief, too.
Also (and, I hope everyone doesn't hear this as being preachy) prayer and scripture study. It helps me clear my mind and be receptive to promptings that can help me resolve a situation or handle it better.
My most favorite place to "escape" is the temple. The doors shut behind you and the world just disappears. Everyone is dressed in white walking around with slippered-feet on carpet. No loud voice, no frantic activity. It's quiet, it's sweet, it's warm--it's like the biggest, best hug in the whole world. :o)
