beacs... ain't it great to be an adult?
I'll keep the champagne on ice until later, then...
Jake Shears and Kanye join me in wishing you a great day!
My question: Why "namo"? And why the reference to that cute animated fish movie?

Congratulations, dear.
will i ever be MBCotD??????
Well, it's obvious to me that "Namo" is a direct reference to the National Association of Mortgage Originators.
FindingNamo... simply wants to buy a house.
Congrats, baby!
I just have two questions for now.
1) Would you please explain all the blind items in your column yesterday?
and...
2) Why are you such a C.U. Next Tuesday?
Namo...do you now, or have you ever, owned a salmon colored jacket?
Sorry I'm late to the party, but sleeping in is a wonderful thing.
So I now pass the crown to the real royalty on BWW. Wearing my best goose pumps, I crown thee Namo.
Congrats NAMO.
yeah, yeah, yeah, now go get waxed.

Out of character behavior for Namo, Part 547:
I just asked a person I do not know, in a place I do not work, if it would be possible to use her computer "for a sec" to check on something "very important." Trusting soul, she.
I don't have much time to scroll back, but let me see if I can answer the questions I remember to the best of my ability (and within my mysterious limits).
I have to say that whatever the first Broadway show I saw doesn't leap out at me in one of those gay boy epiphanies that so many other people report, you know, "the curtain went up, I saw the dance belts, and I KNEW I was a fan for life" type of thing.
And in my brain, I can't exactly separate the years, cuz they all blur together. As a really little kid, I tended to be really into pop music, there is a photo of me as a three year old in my crib that was affixed with a Beatles bumper sticker and my fourth birthday cake was a Beatles cake.
What I recall is seeing a Little Theater production of Fiddler on the Roof as a young boy and finding it EXCRUCIATING. Just the doleful word "Anatevka" is enough to give me anxiety.
I remember begging my somewhat Auntie Mame-like Auntie Marge to take me to Jesus Christ, Superstar when it first ever toured. My mom came too. But it wasn't the stage show, it was Jesus Christ Superstar in concert, before it was mounted as an actual show on Broadway. Auntie Marge and my mom thought it was LOUD.
Seeing a road company of Godspell, however was a personal highlight. I suppose I was 11 or so. I was obsessed with the show from about sixth grade on. While recently going through some items I found the program and the insert with the cast I saw.
Okay, the name FindingNamo came about strangely. At Broadway.com for a long time I was Machoman. Because I had picked the little cop avatar. Then, Machoman got in "a little trouble." So I rejoined the sight as Namohcam, which was Machoman backwards. People called me Namo for short.
Then that sight went away, and I joined this one and I didn't want the same exact name but I wanted something linked to it. That Pixar movie was out and I thought, "I may regret this in two months, but I'll use FindingNamo." And the funny thing is, I haven't got sick of it yet.
And a belated tip of the hat to Joey for passing the crownlette to me, you REALLY shouldn't have. But what's done is done, and the nomination speech was very kind. I have some reactions to it, but that will have to wait til later. But it may shed some light....

Namo - I don't care if you have to tackle unsuspecting strangers (I'm sure it's a part of your repetoire) - keep this up.
So, Namo, did you like Brokeback Mountain?
Seriously, thanks for playing a little... sorry this is falling on a day which is so busy.
Namo, you were the first poster here I really remember "noticing." You were also the first with which I had a fairly intense disagreement. I appreciate that type of interaction, I find it useful and necessary. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we don't, but always we can enter into a serious and thought provoking discussion.
The consistent intellegence of your posts, mixed with the abidingly cynical tone are abiding characteristics that I think this message board need to have.
More often than not I agree with your content, even as I may disagee with the delivery. You are on my short list of posters I actually seek out.

To follow up on Smart's comments:
Agree or disagree with Namo, I've never not learned something from his POV. I think learning and struggling with what you have learned is often more important reaching a harmonious accord. Harder work, yes....but worth the effort.
That said, Namo, I'm sure any computer user would turn over their PC if you explain that you're the Celebrity of the Day. It might even get you a free drink or two.
Pizza Monster-
I hope you enjoy your day in the spotlight.
Best,
Corine
PS: You are special to a lot of people, including me.
I wont get mushy. It would just upset you. So, instead, I will say "All we are saying, is give peace a chance."

Namo's one of the first posters I ever had any interaction with on the board. I didn't even realize he was one of the "controversial" posters until I'd already become a fan.
One of the funniest posters on the boards, Namo's someone you should always be glad is in your corner, if indeed he is in your corner. A man of mystery, one can never be exactly sure what his MO is.
Congratulations to one of the most polarizing people on the boards. Love him or hate him, he can not be ignored. For some of us, he is our hero. For others, he is our nemesis.
To all, he is our Namo.

I can't even say I talk to him, but, in my short time here, I also seek out his posts, SmartPenguin. When I see he's the last post in a thread, I fly to open it.
Okay, Namo IS my favorite poster on this site. Back when the site was rather new, he was the first person I talked to via PM, and I the the insight he provided me with with THAT conversation actually changed a lot about my overall perspective.
I always enjoy your posts Namo. Always intelligent, insightful, witty...often all of the above. Always making us think.
Ok, question, because I suppose we're supposed to ask 'em:
What's the last CD you bought, Namo?

Namo, you hold a special place in my heart because you are so damn straight forward. You don't take crap from people and you don't let them get by with the easy "copout" answers. I have learned that from personal experience and have grown from it. I think that you have some wonderful things to say on here and if people would get over the delivery of it (which can be a bit too frank for some people ) they would learn a lot from you. At the very least your posts are always highly entertaining. (See my sig
) I hope that you have a great day today!
Now lets see a question... If you were given control as a mod on the OT board what would you do with your new found power?
