And I'm here.
A mixed blessing, but a blessing nonetheless.

One would assume that the off-topic board here is gay enough
And reading Margo's thoughts is almost always a worthwhile venture, I agree.
GG...do you spend more time on the main board or off-topic? and why?

I wondered why my ears were burning.......
Congrats GG! Enjoy your day and revel in the attention.
Were those "surrilous remarks" about Liz Callaway as scurrilous as the ones you made once about Michael Cumpsty?
*air-kiss-kisses Garland Grrrl bitchily*
on-topic when i have show commentary, off-topic otherwise. on topic has a lot of very young people who don't have much perspective.
i never made scurrilous remarks about michael cumpsty. i said i thought he was too old for HAMLET which at 47 or so is a defensible position. i said i knew the production would be a mess because brian kulick can turn a silk purse into a sows ear faster than anyone i've ever seen -- and that he (kulick) was hubristic to think he could work with a great actor like cumpsty. i have yet to see anything well done at CSC under brian k.

Do you get to see many shows, GG? And what other forms of entertainment do you enjoy?
i love all sorts of junk food, and given my adherance to south beach, junk food is a very broad term. there are many things i will not or do not eat. i drink waaay too much diet coke. when i am in the mood i love doughnuts -- french crullers -- but not crispy creme.(too sweet) i have to be in a mood to have junk food. i don't have it regularly. i love starbucks soy chai latte. pure garbage.
I was just teasing you, GG. I know you were dissing Kulick not Cumpsty.
wheeew. recently met cumpsty and what a cute guy! he could carry a tv show like the HOUSE guy, what's his buckets from england.
Looks like you're having a blast, GG. I knew I made the right choice!
House is Hugh Laurie. His name always makes me think of Little Women.
i see most shows, but wish to see more works in smaller houses downtown. i see lots of jazz and particularly enjoy bill charlap. i go to see friends cabaret shows and stuff being put up by friends and acquaintances. i am a good show doctor. many people show me stuff for feed-back. i used to edit a number of web pages as well. i used to go to the MET much more (my old voice teacher was best buds with volpe's assistant and i got comps constantly) i prefer modern dance to ballet. i was just reminiscing about a favorite piece this morning --Carnations by pina bausch. i haven't been out to BAM in an age. i have tickets for cate blanchett's hedda for 2/28. i love CRAP tv but with limits. PROJECT RUNWAY is my current rave, but i love anything with teenage girls (now that i am over 30 it's safe to be 15) i have memorized every episode of the mary tyler moore show and my life stops if americas next top model is running anywhere. i am a fashionista and subsribe to VOGUE and W (i also work in the conde nast building, but not for the evil empire itself) i love every moment of the fashion police and as i said in another thread, if i had a gun with one bullet and ryan seacrest and osama where in my sights i'd have to think about it.

My good thoughts now have an unfortunate tinge of green to them.
I would KILL to see that - but I won't be in NYC until the week after the run!
Hopefully, you'll post a review?

Margo, for some reason a quote of Auntie Em's comes to mind
it's funny i should have this opportunity to get to know you all a bit better. i was just thinking to myself that i would like to have a few more friends in the business, or those who love the business. i guess you could say that i know lots of people, but for years i lived in a monastery -- i am not kidding -- and when i came out the only people i ever saw were those people in my yoga and my best friends are/were people who worked for NGO's in the developing world. sustainable development is still a great interest, but i'd like the company of people who are serving the world through performing or writing as well.
What was the last great present that you bought for yourself?
And, what was the last great present that you bought for someone else?
OR
What's the best present you've ever given? Received?
And, what was is the best present you plan on buying for me?
Let us remember that to day is your day. (Damn Paris thread is like crack!!)
there are gifts that are objects and there are gifts that are deeds. my best gift ever was shaktipat, kundalini awakening, from the great and compassionate Gurumayi. in the temporal realm i have also been fortunate. i am a bag hag and if i indulge at all it's with a handbag. i also love NARS lipsticks and chanel eye colors.
my beloved is more than generous and i receive major loot on most holidays -- it's atually hard to keep up with -- but it's also a gift that i don't have to --keep up, i mean.
the best gifts i've given were those that helped a friend and resonated long past the opening of the package. i took a friend with me to yoga once and introduced her to a world that changed the course of her life.
i have another free coke bottle top for you, rath. i haven't forgotten my promise.

GG - I said earlier that you couldn't say anything else that would touch my sensibilities as much - and that still stands (living in the PRESENT is the most important thing to me) - but this comes REALLY close.
