Addy, kind doesn't even begin to scratch the surface, and I have no doubt that it would all be accurate.
What are some of your most prized possessions?
As I sit here, I raise a freshly brewed mug of Throat Coat tea in honor of the great Pink Lady!
redhot!!!
What a great opportunity to delve into the mind of the great Addy!
I have truly enjoyed reading her ever insightful responses (I especially enjoyed the post about her nephew...what a touching story!).
So Addy, thank you for your contribution to this board. You are truly one-of-a-kind.
I hope you're enjoying your day!
It's kind of emotional, BB! But, I am enjoying it. I'm overwhelmed with the kindness.
GG - I think loveliness is a philosophy, which involves being genuine, living a life without regret and with life-affirming class. Being beautiful, to me, is to be filled with grace, a sense of fulfillment, and having a commitment to humanity. It really does come from within.
This is so nice to see so many wonderful friends here.... Thanks to everyone!
Great questions Craig!
FYI,
Addy is the humblest person I've ever met on this board. She really doesn't know just how beautiful she is...but she lives by that philosophy of beauty she stated above and it shows. Oh, how it shows.
These superlatives sound trite, I know, but being with Addy is always a warm, fuzzy moment. Especially when hot chocolate or Veuve is involved!
Or caramel.
The first drink I got loaded on was peppermint schnapps. I was in high school, and not a drinker, and I was invited to a party at a girl's house who my parent's didn't like... I begged to go (because the cool guys were going to be there), and they finally agreed. The guy I had a crush on brought a bottle of peppermint schnapps that he must have swiped from his house, and we all started to play drinking games. It didn't take long for me to get tipsy... and when the guy I had a crush on asked me to go out in the backyard with him I was so dizzy I just kind of crumpled. So much for being able to make out with the cutest boy in school! And, oh, the headache the next day... It was ages before I touched a drop of anything again!
Silliest word is 'snerk'. It just makes me... well... snerk!
I enjoy onomatopoeic words...
Three things everyone on here should remember:
1. Be kind. You never know when a small gesture of kindness will make a difference in someone's life.
2. If someone asks you to dance... you should!
3. Don't drink peppermint schnapps. Especially when there are cute boys around.
My favorite pig-out food is probably pizza.
My best meal was in Paris. I had just moved there with my boyfriend, and he took me to a small restaurant (which would forever become my favorite) where we dined on pate, and lamb and had a delicious souffle for dessert. But, more than the utterly amazing food, was the whole dream of having moved to that incredible city with the man I loved... it was intoxicating.
My 16th birthday was a surprise party. My parents and sister arranged it, and even ordered a jukebox for our game-room, where the party was held. My best friends, unbeknownst to me, came over in the afternoon to decorate while I was out babysitting. My parents took my sister and I out for an early dinner, and I noticed that my sister kept trying to stifle giggles whenever I looked at her, but I never suspected. I was completely surprised when we got home and opened the door and all my best friends were there! And they rigged the jukebox to play "You're 16, you're beautiful, and you're mine..."
I had another surprise party when I was about 23, which wasn't as successful, because my roommate, who was supposed to take me for one drink after work to distract me while everyone set up, ended up taking me to Trader Vic's, where we got loaded on Samoan Fogcutters... We got back hours late and I just wanted to pour myself into bed...
Thanks for the memories, Craig!!
Peppermint Schnapps. I always think of peppermint as red or pink... How appropriate!
LOL - I never thought of it that way. I suppose it is!
I have one last thing to say before I head home.
Anyone that’s not, on some level, in love with Addy, just hasn’t been paying attention, and I'm not just talking about today.
Also, Addy, I asked you another question on the last page. Enjoy the rest of your day!
I have now added a list of honorees in the first message on the thread just under the rules.

Thanks Craig; that'll help avoid repetition as this thread goes on. Though the honorees so far deserve to be repeated.
"If someone asks you to dance... you should!"
Words to live by.
I do hope someone special asks you to join them in a flight to the moon. Here's the balloon. I hope that someone remembers the champagne!
Happy day, Addy!
Good idea, Craig.
Shameless, my most prized possessions: the one that jumps to mind is a pillowcase I received for my birthday when I was 7. From my best friend, Stevie. It had a circus theme, with a pretty carousel. He picked it out himself and told his mother that he wanted to give it to me because he wanted me to always have sweet dreams. I've been best friends with Stevie (who now goes by Steve) practically my entire life. He has two daughters, and named one of them after me. He was diagnosed with ALS last year. I still have that pillowcase, and will love it forever!
My others are letters from grandparents and friends, my photographs, and a cork from the champagne bottle which was opened the night that Mark (the man I referenced in the post about my favorite meal) and I moved to Paris.
Gee, answering these questions have been fun, but emotional! Good thing I have to leave in a bit to go to rehearsal...
I'll be back, but to those of you who made this day so unbelievably special, I thank you so very much. It's been a joy to share the day with you.
Back soon....
I have another prized possession...
A few years ago I was invited to play in a corporate golf tournament in Nashville, Tennessee. Long story short - my foursome won. When they were handing out the trophies at the Awards Dinner they realized that they only had trophies with men on them. None for women. I was the only woman in the foursome, and one of only about 5 in the entire tournament... The head of the club where the tournament was held was so embarrassed. He kept apologizing that he just didn't think a woman would ever win (digging himself in even deeper). He promised to send me a trophy with a women on it, but I refused and hauled the large male-dominated trophy home with me. It sits in a place of honor in my office... And, oh, the bragging rights!

You know what, I just have to reiterate my love for that latest anecdote, especially as a girl who's succeeded in a few "male" fields.
Addy, you are the perfect CoTD. Great answers to the questions!
I was going to say something about a trophy husband, but thought better of it.

I give you two thumbs up. I'd give you more but that's all the thumbs I have.
