ou say that we've got nothing in common
No common ground to start from
And we're falling apart
You'll say the world has come between us
Our lives have come between us
But I know you just don't care
CHORUS:
And I said what about "Breakfast at Tiffany's?
She said, "I think I remember the film,
And as I recall, I think, we both kinda liked it."
And I said, "Well, that's the one thing we've got."
Question for Addy -
If money were no object, which of your childhood productions would you like to see mounted as a full scale musical?
LOL, Dottie!
I believe it would be the one about Abe Lincoln...
Addy,
If you were a world city, which one would you be and why?
Jaipur. The Pink City.
Seriously, I think probably Paris.
The city of light.
It's such an elegant city, full of love and inspiration.
What is your favorite song of all time?
Wow. Of ALL time? That's almost impossible to answer...
One of my favorites, is, obviously Moon River.
But, I'm going to share a story about a song which means a great deal to me, even if it isn't my favorite of all time...
When my nephew was born he spent weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The first time I was able to hold him (about 24 hours after he was born and had his first surgery), I cradled him gently in my arms and amidst the tubes and wires and medical equipment softly sang "Not While I'm Around" to him...
I still sing it to him whenever we're together.
I know it's a dark Sondheim song, but the words are so beautiful and it reminds me of a moment in my life when time stood still.
Part of the song (to comply with copyright rules!):
Nothing's gonna harm you
Not while I'm around
Nothing's gonna harm you
No sir, not while I'm around
Demons are prowling everywhere
Nowadays
I'll send 'em howling I don't care
I got ways
No one's gonna hurt you
No one's gonna dare
Others can desert you
Not to worry, whistle, I'll be there
Addy - if you were a gay bee, would you find jon lovitz posing as harvey fierstein attractive?
Craig, I just don't think I would....
If you could be a fly on the wall....whos room would you like to fly into?
How do you spend a rainy/snowy Sunday?
Fly on the wall... I'd like to fly into Hugh Jackman's dressing room.
Snowy/rainy day... Last year on the Saturday that we had the big blizzard in January I met two friends at Cornelia Street Cafe, where we spent HOURS having brunch and champagne in front of a roaring fire. Then we went out to slip and slide in the snow and went over to Balthazar for more champagne and some dessert. It was such a great day, we've decided to make it a tradition. (Bring on the blizzards!)
Usually I spend a snowy/rainy Sunday making a big breakfast, drinking lots of coffee, reading the New York Times, and if I stay in I curl up with a good book, or watch a movie. Or, it can be a nice day to meet someone and go for a long leisurely brunch and/or a movie. Baking is a good way to spend the day, too.
And, I post on BWW!
If you could pick the job of your dreams....what would it be.
Here's some pretty flowers for Addy!
Question: What is your favorite childhood memory?
"champagne, foie gras, cheese, chocolate"
Addy--are those the Four Food Groups?
Boobs - the 'job' of my dreams would be: Mom (but, that's because it had to remain a dream...)
As far as career - I think it would be college professor. The teaching, research, mentoring. Fortunately, I am able to do much of that in my career, but I would have loved a life in academia.
TheatreDiva - such pretty flowers!
My favorite childhood memory... another one I have to think about. It's little things really, but I loved summer nights when I was little. All the kids in the neighborhood would be out playing and we'd catch fireflies (though it always made me sad to see them in the jar!) and play games and it seemed like those summers just stretched on forever...
I have many, many happy memories of bedtime songs with mom and stories with dad and all that storybook stuff...
PalJoey - absolutely!
Addy, bless your heart.
You are one of the kindest, brightest people that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I wish that everyone both in the cyberworld and the real one could share just a fraction of what makes you special. You are a giving, caring soul who injects joy into everything that you engage in.
We are all better for sharing in just a glimpse of your light.
If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?

Shameless, I think they would say that I was kind. I hope it would be accurate.

And, then I'd like to be able to teletransport!
