Is anyone going to see Miranda Sings at Birdland this Monday, the 14th? I'm contemplating getting a ticket . . I'd really like to see her live, I find her videos hilarious. But I don't know if it's the type of thing one goes to alone.
If you go, tell her Byron from Gypsy said hello...

My daughter introduced me to Miranda and her voice lesson videos. They are hilarious! She is actually very talented. My daughter loves to imitate her too! She thought she was for real but now she knows it's all an act-which makes it funnier!
Upon further inspection, I see they have a $10 drink/food minimum. Maybe I won't be going after all. If anyone has an extra "general seating" ticket though, I will reconsider...
The schtick is getting old. How much longer can people continue to act like they like her singing. She was funny at the start but it's just overkill now. With the trips to New York, London, & Australia it seems way over produced & think it's going to come around & bite Coleen in the ass.
The concert was hilarious! She "sang" "All that Jazz", "Chest and Butt" (Dance 10, Looks 3), "A Little Fall of Rain" with Adam Kantor, "I Know it's today" with the two girls from SHREK, the end of "Defying Gravity", like 10 seconds of "What is this feeling" with Natalie Weiss and "As Long As You're Mine" which started out with Ariana Grande and her brother but ended up just being Miranda singing alone. She also gave dancing, singing and acting lessons to some of the kids from BILLY ELLIOT.
I had a great time and ended up sitting with a man who's daughter is in BILLY.
Miranda is like a great Saturday Live sketch that they are trying to turn into a movie. Her bits are truly funny, but I don't think she should try to cross this over into bigger gigs. I can't imagine watching an entire show of her. I think she should stick to guest appearances and work on another gig.

Thanks Blockhead! Just watched with my daughter and we both loved them. She is hilarious! Thanks for posting- I was hoping you would! Someone needs to get her on Ellen- she would love it! (or Bonnie Hunt because she loves improv)
