Right, 'cause clearly the central issue in this report is "roll down" vs "open". That's the real story. The rest is just a smoke screen. Which could easily be cleared up if we could open windows on airplanes. And space shuttles. I mean, it's possible as long as they only do it at certain altitudes, right?

For those who fail to read an entire thread before posting to it I stated previously I'm not advocating anything about aircraft windows, but it's NOT impossible to make them functional below pressurization levels for commercial aircraft and most GAA have windows that open.

The distortion through a bull**** headline and pile-on snark about Romney's actual comment is a prime example of why so many are fed up with it all.

FWIW on many commercial aircraft the cargo holds aren't pressurized at altitude even though the passenger cabin is.
How do the GAA windows operate.
They are usually sliders or pop-outs
btw, many commercial aircraft have cockpit windows that can be opened and could be opened during non-pressurized flight if FAA regulations permitted it

Terrorists really have little trouble doing whatever they want to do. The good ones are just like hackers - always one step ahead of security.
They've even been known to use pressure triggers that set off bombs when an aircraft cabin reaches a certain pressure level, so damned if you do, damned if you don't.
If you're that concerned I guess all exit doors, including emergency doors, should be protected from passenger access, too.

It takes more then turning a knob and pushing the window up while sitting in your seat to open an escape door. There have been people recently who have attempted it and were stopped.
