Not only did I read it, I found it very interesting and thoughtful, but in the end was disappointed as it seemed clear that the poster was falling for all the left-wing crap that the MSM disperses.
Need I once again outline the racist history of the Democratic Party? A history that goes back to the days of the Civil War and continues right up to this administration?
Do I REALLY need to go into the AIDS spending bills signed by Reagan in the 80s, which nearly DOUBLED each year? That Reagan’s secretary of Health and Human Services in 1983, Margaret Heckler, declared AIDS her department’s "number one priority." ?
Do I need to once again (as I have done on this board before) point out the compassion of Pres. George W. Bush and his fight against AIDS in Africa? Why don't you Google PEPFAR and find out on your own? Most people don't know about it because Pres. Bush, being the modest man he was, did not talk about it and the MSM did not report on it becuase it did not fit into their "Bush=Evil" narrative. He should have won the Nobel Peace Prize for PEPFAR as it literally saved the lives of tens of millions of Afrcians. But instead the Prize goes to B. Obama for.....well, for NOTHING!
Therefore, Addison, thank you for your well written thoughtful post, but I must end by stating that this:
"Mr. Romney was the standard-bearer and candidate for a party whose platform very specifically and unambiguously endorsed mean, hateful, anti-gay, anti-woman and racist policies."
is utter crap!

And as to your point that the only evidence I posted of criticism of Romney's remark was from left-wing blog, I also quoted one Bill Maher, who made fun of Romney's reference to Mali. Also, would you consider the New Yorker a "blog"? Lauren Collins, who writes for The New Yorker, joked in her column that the debate was Romney's "mini-seminar on Mali".
So once again we see the MSM ridiculing the republican candidate, who turns out to have been right. But then that is why Romney is so successful. Romney is, after all, a businessman — a very successful businessman. What separates success from failure in the business world is an ability to assess a situation and to predict what will happen next.
This is called reality. Obama’s hallmark is “hope.” See the difference?

But Mikey--it's not crap. I am not relying on anyone--neither Bill Maher nor Peggy Noonan--for my opinion. I am reading a copy of "We Believe in America"--the 2012 Republican Platform. This document specifically enumerates:
Support for Defense of Marriage as 1 Man + 1 Woman. Anti-Gay
Aggressive anti-abortion policy. Anti-woman.
"Voter Integrity" policies aimed at the dis-enfranchisement of poor, black & Latino voters. Racist.
Defending un-limited plitical contributions by corporations as a First Ammendment issue (!). Hateful.
(Deliberately) Mis-interpreting the Second Ammendment--the need for a "Well-regulated MILITIA"--as an excuse to support the widespread, un-fettered, un-regulated ownership of guns by private citizens. Indecent.
Advocating that stewardship of the nation's Natural Resources and Public Land be turned over to Private Ownership for "Ranching, Mining and Forestry". Insane.
And, yes--the Democratic Party of the 1860's was not as progressive on the issue of Race as I would like it to have been. I do not think that means I am not allowed to raise the issue of Race when discussing the 21st Century Republican party.

"Romney is, after all, a businessman — a very successful businessman."
He's only successful because he's rich. The companies he has owned/purchased/ran have all failed and the employees laid off. How is that successful? Show me one company that has thrived under Bain's leadership. You can't, because it doesn't exist.

The items you listed are only ANTI-whatever in YOUR OPINION!! Your OPINION does not equate to FACT.
"And, yes--the Democratic Party of the 1860's was not as progressive on the issue of Race as I would like it to have been."
How about the Democratic Party of the 1960s???
How about the Democratic Party of the 1990s??
How about TODAY'S Democratic Party???
Like I said, the racism in the Democratic Party existed in the 1860s, it existed in the 1960s and it still exists today --right up to RACIST comments by our own Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton. Do I REALLY need to post these clips AGAIN!!????

Here's an (admitted "progressive blog") that recounts Romney's years at Staples: http://blog.ourfuture.org/20121018/so-did-mitt-romney-really-create-jobs-at-staples
And Walgreens now owns Duane Reed, so... what's your point?

The tapestry of American politics has changed drastically over last 100 years. You can't compare the two parties just because they have the same name.
Every high school student that has studied American Government knows that.

You don't know that. You're pulling crap out of your ass because it serves your narrative.
How many people have been laid off because Bain closed the plant/factory/company?
How much money does Romney have tucked away in a tax shelter?
How many jobs were lost when he flipped the companies? From his record (I haven't read about every company), it looks like he restructured the companies from the ground up, giving the CEOs more profit while cutting jobs and hours, and then selling the companies for (usually) double what he paid.
So, for him to say, "I create jobs" is a LIE.

Frankenstein monster - Anything democratic. Good
Anything REPUBLICAN BAIN OR FIRE. Bad
Amazing that those who are the first to cry racism are those who play the race card first
