I don't get this trend of final films in book franchises being split into two. Mockingjay isn't that great of a book and there isn't enough material for two movies.

At least it isn't a 310 page book being stretched into 3 three hour movies. Lookin at you, Hobbit.

I agree. Mockingjay was my least favorite in the series and rather than having one alright movie they're gonna have one hella boring one and the ending. Plus they're going to have to add a lot to fill them out.

The book has a very definite divide. All of the stuff in 13 as the Mockingjay builds to her full heroine status- seeing what 13 is really like and of course the creation of a"special" mutt.Then the Nut is blown and Our Catnip is turned into just another soldier and then more some. All of the whole rigged pod stuff and the "human shield" deaths. annd the after math. On a visual medium-there is lots to expand Tooo!

I couldn't get through the book. I got half way through, but it was so unbelievably boring that I quit. Just because Harry Potter split their final movie in two does NOT mean that all other books-to-movies series should follow suit.

I think, if they wanted four films out of three books, they should have split Catching Fire. That has a very clear divide at the halfway point and would have allowed the third film to transition nicely into the beginning of Mockingjay.

I like Mockingjay more than most people for the experimentation. However, I don't think there's enough narrative there to make two films.

Well so far all the series that have split the last book (or first as in The Hobbit) have been spectacularly successful.

Harry Potter
Twilight
The Hobbit

Regardless of the quality they have all made insane bank.

Eventually though Hollywood will become overconfident and start stretching middling series out and then they will crash and burn.
