Posted: 3/17/14 at 2:19pmI lived on east 89th for three years and liked it very much. What it lacked it nightlife, it made up for in amenities. I had four Duane Reades within a 5 block radius of my place- not to mention Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, Staples, Fairway, Food Emporium, Gristedes, and more. My friend and I took over a lease, and we got a pretty good deal for the location and apartment size. The management company, however, did start to jack up the rent- and the 2nd ave subway construction was increasingly bothersome.

Sometimes I regret when I have to do commuting of any kind but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Love being able to take a break from the "hustle and bustle" while still residing in Manhattan. Good balance.
