I'm in a little bit of shock.
I'm in a little bit of shock.
And it double posted...sorry. I guess it's just a manifestation of my shock...
Is this really surprising? Why are you shocked?
Sueleen, I must admit, that for all the things I hear about it, it's never really hit me, number wise. But that's such a huge number, and it's so unfortunate.

Ouch. That's a lot of people.
well, when the government, school districts, and churches just turn their heads and pretend people aren't having sex....preaching abstinence, rather than safe sex practices, this does not surprise me.
these groups ignore it, hoping it will go away........
Exactly, Elphaba. And add to that all the younger people who think the disease is a thing of the past and throw caution and condoms to the wind.
exactly Sueleen.........
That's what I wonder about -- I'm a young female (almost 20!) Now, I admit I'm not having sex (like anyone cares), but for gods sake, when these things happen in my life, I can't imagine saying "hey, a million people have a life threatening illness. I sure as heck can't get it" and not using condoms, getting tested, etc...
