I'd go with JUNO. Some of the dialogue was CRINGE-inducing and the soundtrack grated and grated and grated on me.

I'd say you're wrong!

I'd say "You're wrong." But either way, sandwhich is clearly derranged and hopefully suicidal.

I just don't like Juno, Sam I am. I do not like Juno with ham.
Inland Empire.
Waste of time.
I actually agree with Cruel... oy. I think Juno was entirely overrated, although the MOST overrated film of the year is definitely Atonement.
Now, let's talk about completely underappreciated films... why is "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead" being completely overlooked? Now that was a brilliant, well-crafted piece of cinema!
Philip Seymour has always given be the creeps.
I hear you taz, i think it's because the first memory i have of him (not the first time i saw him in a movie but the first and longest lasting memory where i recognized him) is Boogie Nights where he had the creepiest ****ing character ever.
Definitely HAIRSPRAY along with KNOCKED UP.
I loved every frame of JUNO, what a fantastic movie.
Adore JUNO. Adore the soundtrack.

They made it, but good? No.
LePetiteFromage, I agree. I thought I was going to LOVE "Charlie Wilson's War." It was alright. Nothing outstanding. I had a bit of trouble reading it on everybody's top ten movies of the year lists, admittedly.
I hate the term "overrated," and I haven't seen everything by any means. But my opinion of "No Country For Old Men" isn't anywhere near as high as the critics, save for Javier Bardem's performance and the stunning cinematography. NOTHING else about this film was outstanding. "Good," sure... but not "best of the year" for anything.
Unless this year is one of the weakest ever in the history of film.
How is SWEENEY TODD overrated? It made like two bucks at the B.O.
Probably JUNO and ATONEMENT. The most underrated are WAITRESS and INTO THE WILD.

CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR
And a hugely acclaimed documentary called BILLY THE KID about a small town teenage outcast. You'd think the filmmakers, not to mention the critics who lavished ungodly praise on the film, had never met a quirky kid before.

AC126748, Leave now!
Saw it just last night. Loved it. Devastated they left out the Ballad, and didn't like Anthony Hope, but otherwise great. Loved Edward Saunders as Toby.

Ok, I'll admit I havn't actually seen it, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that mine would be Superbad. Soooo many people were all dkjfsakfj over that movie and I just thought it looked absoltuely ridiculous. I had ZERO desire to see it. I think Sweeney's maybe a tiiiny bit overrated also, but not the performances at all, just... as far as the story of it goes it's a little TOO dark and depressing for my taste.
I DON'T think that Juno is overrated at all- I think it deserves all the accolades it's gotten (which isn't all that much, at least not in the awards sense)
Underrated? I'd say Into The Wild. And um.. hmm, I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of them right now haha
I would say Hairspray. I did not get the hype for that movie.

I don't remember alot of hype for it, but it was the number one movie in America it's first week and that was Epic Movie. Complete waste of time, and it was just not funny. I can't believe the morons that did that have made another one with Meet The Spartans which the only funny sequence seems to be when the guy turns into a transformer and play the video of Chris Crocker, that's it. Parody movies have really gone down hill starting with Scary Movie 3(right when the Wayans left, they became less funny).
Hairspray was an okay movie, but it didn't deserve alot of the hype it received.
I want to chime in with everyone else and say AC126748
why was Sweeney overrated? I thought it was great, didn't care for the look of Anthony and thought that HBC's vocal were awkward and could've been better, but other than that it was fantastic. It worked well because it's a movie, you don't need a big powerful voice for a movie, everyone in the cast had great voices and they worked for the movie and for what Burton wanted which was actors that aren't professional singers, singing the score.

We're starting this again, are we? Oh, well...
SWEENEY was a good try, but there was no way it earned the fulsome accolades it got from almost every critic in the country. If it had been as good as everyone wanted it to be, (and a LOT funnier), we would have seen that reflected in the box office, at least temporarily (unless we want to blame "stupid, unsophisticated Middle America" for that.)
My other big candidate for "most overrated of 2007" is definitely ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. The fact that that nightmarish piece of pseudo-60s claptrap got ANY acclaim or made ANY money is incomprehensible to me.
