"It may seem weird, but the most disturbing film to me was a TV movie called "No One Would Tell" starring Candace Cameron and Fred Savage(I know, considering the stars...but still...)...it's about a relationship that ends up becoming completely physically and mentally abusive and at the end where she finally tries to break, she goes to hang out with him as friends and he kills her. My sister just ended a very similar relationship, that I also thought was well done and affecting."
That movie actually really effed me up too. There are some tv movies that are effective like that. For the Love of Nancy with Tracy Gold where she played a character like her who had an eating disorder was really disturbing. There was another movie with Kelly Martin and Tori Spelling where Tori is a popular girl who Kelly kills when she rejects her that was really good. You really felt the guilt that Kelly Martin's character had. There was another one with Jennie Garth, about Laurie Kellog, a woman who had some teenagers help kill her abusive husband, that also had an effect on me. One more I can think of was Secret Cutting, where Sean Young played the mom of a girl who cut herself.

Musicgal04: I bet they *did* get the idea from that study. It's too similar to be a coincidence.
My pick isn't disturbing in the way that some other choices are, but it's still up there. "In The Bedroom" really got to me. The last half hour or so is a brilliant display of dreadfully tense cinema. It's a good movie, but I don't think I'll be able to watch it again. I don't want to put myself through that again if I can help it.
