Most Shocking/Disturbing Films u'v seen?

Yeah, I was going to put The Ring on the list. Oldboy is excellent. Kids was pretty disturbing for me as well. Then there's Joint Security Area. I'm not sure if I was shocked or disturbed in any way, but it really got to me emotionally.

I thought Black Hawk Down was really disturbing and hard to watch. A great movie, but I don't think I'll feel the need to see it again for a very long time.
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

You haven't seen disturbing until you've seen VULGAR.

On the shocking but funny front you could always go with Meet The Feebles.

The most horribly disturbing film you will ever see is a French film titled, "Irreversible," which features an VERY graphic, 20-minute rape scene, not to mention a scene that takes place in a sex club in which one person's face is beaten OFF of his head with a fire extinguisher. Enough said.

Completely scarred me.

BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE upset me. not a date film. SHINE upset me. the whole sexual relationship between geoffrey rush and lynn redgrave was nauseating. was she his nurse or his mommie? they just didn't relate like adults. it was hard to watch.

Capturing The Friedmans.

And I just want to say something about the supposedly very graphic rape scene in Irreversible. It's nothing of the kind. It's very long and it's VERY disturbing, but I really wouldn't say it was graphic. The reason it's so disturbing is it focuses so relentlessly on Monica Bellucci's pain and suffering. It's an exceptional but very difficult film.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

No, the rape scene wasn't visually graphic, i.e. lots of explicit footage.

It was definitely Belucci's pain, coupled with the sheer length of the scene, that got to me. Not to mention that I saw it in a theatre, and the sharp sound on top of it all was what did me in.

reminds me of the scene in the accused with jodie foster. i saw that film (again) in my crime & punishment class in college. several women in the class left the room during that scene.

The Exorcist
Natural Born Killers
Freaks
Naked Lunch
Lost Highway
Videodrome
Schindler's List

I've heard so much about Irreversible, I'm terrified to watch it. I'm not even sure why someone wanted to make that film.

The Accused is actually more graphic than Irreversible, yet the latter is more disturbing, if that makes sense.

American History X. I still can't watch that part at the beginning with Edward Norton beating up that guy in the street. I just cannot handle that.

I would agree with Irreversible.

I also thought Last House on the Left was pretty harrowing and disturbing.

SorryGrateful, I was just thinking the same thing. I can still hear the sound of that guy's skull on the curb. So disgusting.

There are parts in Dolores Claiborne that I find pretty disturbing.

I think I may be the only person on the planet who actually sort of likes Boxing Helena.

Fight Club was just WEIRD

But the most shocking I guess was NORA....not a good thing to watch with the parents...
"It's a great feeling of power to be naked in front of people. We're happy to watch actual incredible graphic violence and gore, but as soon as somebody's naked it seems like the public goes a bit bananas about the whole thing."

I was watching Truth or Dare last night- if you rent it, DON'T watch it with the parents!
