Tonight I kept replaying in my head one of my favourite gay-themed movies, Another Country. Although the movie's gay story is only a subplot, it has got to be the romantic gay love coupling ever. (For those who haven't seen the movie, go rent it: it features Rupert Everett & Cary Elwes as romantic lovers in a British private school in the 1930s; it also stars a gorgeous young Colin Firth to boot).
So what do you think is the most romantic gay movie? I need some warm fuzziness.
Maurice.
Beautiful Thing.
BEAUTIFUL THING and JEFFREY
I really liked Big Eden. The whole town gets behind the couple - a great story.
Oh and by the way - in case you are all wondering - there are no lesbian movies that fit this category cause no one has made a good lesbian movie yet. They all suck (no pun intended, boys).

Rath - not even Desert Hearts? And Bar Girls made me laugh a LOT
For our team, I like Maurice and Beautiful Thing.
While the content was so sad and tragic, I found the relationships in Longtime Companion to be very, very romantic.
Another vote for BEAUTIFUL THING and MAURICE.

It's kinda trashy and cheap, but I'm such a huge fan of TRICK. And my heart still goes a little pit-a-pat when he makes the phone call at the end.
Ok I'm convinced to add Trick and Beautiful Thing to my list. :)
I really really liked Trick. Christian Campbell is as cute as all get out and JP Pitoc is so hot I just can't stand it. And the ending is just lovely.
Trick makes me cry every time and I LOVE All Over the Guy.
"Va-Gine-A!"
I just have to fast forward over Tori Spelling singing - though she is a hoot in the movie.

Tori Spelling cracked me up in Trick. "He used to call me Puss-Puss."
And her singing is supposed to be bad. I can deal with intentional bad singing.
Beautiful Thing, Get Real and My Beautiful Laundrette are my personal favorites.

My Beautiful Laundrette was the first time I ever saw Daniel Day-Lewis. I almost passed out when he licked the other guys neck in the street.
The end of Get Real is decidedly unromantic though, wouldn't you say?

popcultureboy - I'm with you - I would have MUCH preferred to see the jock give in and join him - but it at least is self-empowering.
Bar Girls - ick. I hate when they have to get all PC. Which all lesbian movies seem to have to do.
Desert Hearts was the closest to a good lesbian movie, except it's not really a lesbian movie, now, is it?
